The new Electrolux ultracaptic, the bagless with a difference, with no dreaded dust cloud apparently!
We have one come in at work, it's only been released recently. I was able to set it up and pleasantly surprised by it, it's very quiet and powerful, it was able to lift out fine dust from our store carpets, which I thought were clean. As for the compact and go, we shall have to see if it works.

Controversially, is its design. I actually like it, but colleagues think it has fallen out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down!

I don't normally do bagless, but I think I want one. What is the general opinion of you chaps here?

They are indeed very ugly, but some people like ugly things, and its prime selling point is that there is a compressor piston that squashes the dirt up in the canister, so that might be the gimmick that sells it, rather than its ugly appearance. AEG usually make a pretty good quality vac and the price being asked is certainly a premium price.

Its a nice vacuum, works well and has great suction, The compacting system is a take on the LG system but works well. They are well liked in SA ( AEG) and are well priced, Generally a decent amount cheaper than a Miele and I think they have better build quality than Miele too.

It appears rather large. I find the Ultra One to be able the right size and shape for a canister vacuum. Is the Ultra Captic any larger?

What I can't wait to see is the Dyson DC54. I can't believe he finally got rid of the filter. Or did he? He says there's no filter washing required, he doesn't say it's filterless.

From what I have seen it does not have a pre filter only a hepa filter.

I am waiting in anticipation for my sample to arrive. I can't wait till they put the system in an upright. But in the mean time I will be using a canister vacuum at home when I get this for the first time in ages.

Not by very much, it's the handle at the front and the design that makes it look bigger. I shall try to grab a photo when I am in work tomorrow

Well, when you put the SEBO D2 vs Miele S8 vs AEG UltraCaptic together from John Lewis website you'll see that the AEG is a bit bigger than the SEBO D2, itself a bulkier vacuum than the Miele S8 thanks to the extra longer cord.

I checked JL this morning but it was already showing out of stock, I was hoping for a deal on the Samsung MotionSync or Bosch Silent Power range but no joy!
