After about three months, I finally got to cleaning up and making my Eureka work.

This model and colour scheme of Eureka vacuums has sentimental value... My great grandma bought one as her last vacuum. I have hers still, but I'm scared to even turn it on so I found this one.

It didn't get a "spa day" like my Kirbys get, but I cleaned it on the outside and in the agitator bar holder.

Either way, for $8, I can't complain.

Besides, it has everyone's favourite bag type; Eureka F & G!

Kool......

I have that model, and almost the whole first set, mine is dated 1983 i think.....yours is the same as mine which is from later in the run. You might have noticed that the labels on the top of the hood, and around the Rugulator are rough and textured. The first of these had smooth glossy labels, and the one over the headlight lit up.....here's a pic of the model right above the cream one, the difference was this one had the triple filter cloth bag, with a mock boxtop topper....and a one speed switch in the top of the handle instead of the step on in the hood.....notice the glossy label and the light up logo

and the full uprights....

the one of the left is a 1982 model and the one on the right is a 1980 model....both with the light up logo...

Nice! Have never tried one, is the power drive pretty smooth? I have only tried the Concept 1 and early Kirby.

suckolux, if you can get your hands on one for cheap then go for it. They're really nice machines. The Self propel drive isn't as nice as a Kirby G Series but it comes close. Much better than an early 2000's Hoover Windtunnel

1926700, I've always been jealous if that model! I love mine and it has sentimental value so I wouldn't trade it for anything but if I could fine one like yours I'd be all over it. I love the light up logo. I've seen several like yours, but some people really like to say "It's a vintage machine, $300" for those.

There is this one model like these that I want to get because I love the colored bag but I just can't remember where I saw a picture of it...

So as it turns out 1926700, you were the one who posted a picture of the colour scheme I'm after!

yeah.....lol......

My rust, the TOL (Top of the line ) Self Propelled. This was The two speed, and had a swivel upper cord hook, more amprage than the blue....I love mine (mines dated 1986 BTW) but mine is a late with the rough label.... I would have rather had the light up model of that particular one....you know, you gotta take what you can get....

Yeah... I understand that.

I'd love to find one and your's appears to be in very decent condition!

Lets hope the thrift stores around here provide me with one eventually...

Not god awful many.......

3 im my time of collecting, counting yours....ive seen another dated 78 with the triple filer cloth, since i was quoted the 1978 was the introduction, im saying only the first years worth maybe....Do you still have it?...and could you check the date?

Post# 249887 , Reply# 13   9/11/2013 at 21:19 (3,872 days old) by 1926700 ()
i just googled pics......

and i found this one also with the early vinyl bag in the TOL rust model. Notice the switch in the base next to the Regulator. I read in the manual that was to compensate for the High ESP speed. I guess in the beginning they thought the two speed model would be to much for the tranny on high speed....but they decided they didn't need it. That another little trademark of the first SP....or the first two speed anyway....

Of course I still have it!

super-sweeper's profile picture

Since when do I get rid of vacuums?

When I get home, I'll be glad to check the date.

Where would it be found, Serial #, I suppose?

#'s

super-sweeper's profile picture

Model:5060B

Serial No:20728244

Finally pulled this machine from sitting under a pile of vacuums, and the shape is, well, Bad.

The hood got a smashed in bit on the side, along with the area above the headlight under the sticker cracked (That issue is old, though). The bag needs some serious work, but it's a challenge I'm up for. Maybe one day I could even bring it to a convention and put it in the "Best Restored" contest! what fun!

A new video is a must, how rare would I state this machine in the description? Would I hazard extremely? very? barely? I'm no expert! But I'm getting there!

Will (TASE),

Sorry to rain on this parade, but in the picture I see in the first post, I also see a Donkey Kong cartridge that goes to an old Mattel Intellivision video game system from the 1980's. This is a video of its gameplay:

Yep... Purchased it at the thrift store for $1.99... Couldn't beat the price.

I haven't had the money to purchase an Intellivision yet... Too expensive.

Hopefully my luck with thrift storing will bring great discoveries...

Speaking of Video Games,

I also see a 2 Chell Lanyard tags from VALVe's 2007 Game, "Portal". It's successor in 2011, with "Portal 2".

I loved those games, I've got so much Aperture Science merchandise!

Same here! The only reason I have a steam account is due to Portal.

I got those two lanyard things at Denver Comic Con where I got Wil Wheaton to yell at me. Such a great time.

Seems like you had fun! Feel free to msg me your steam name, I'm on there often.

What was Will Wheaton yelling at you over?

Were these the underdog to the Hoover convertible ?

IN South Africa up until Electrolux Launched the 500 series you were the odd family out of you had anything other than a Hoover Convertible or Senior as it was known here.

We have one of the rust colored 2 speed self propelled ones at our church. It is in nice shape and just purrs. The self propel drive cable is broken so it is no longer self propelled, but is super easy to push on the flat carpet.
