Why, Hello there!

We just got home from the local Flea Market up the street, and, As Charles Lester would have put it,

"HOLY CREVICE TOOL, BATMAN!"

I finally came home with the mother-load!

There's a shop up there, owned by the sweetest Woman, Who looks after her Husband's shop on Saturdays, While the Husband mans it Sundays. The first time I got a Look in their back-room, I nearly imploded in on Myself!

Let Me just say , Have you ever seen more Kirbys in ONE room?

Not to mention the wall of vintage and modern attachments and renovators and Handi-Butlers...

Anyhow, I came prepared today, And came home with the following:

  • Kirby Heritage '84
  • Kirby Classic-Omega 1-CR
  • Classic 1-CR Rug Renovator (This came with the original box, But is far from repair, And will go out and buy a new one).
  • Kirby Heritage Handi-Butler
  • Box of attachments for the 1-CR (They had the original box, But it was destroyed form years of Rain and Decay).

FUN, Isn't it?

Classic 1-CR Detailed...

This vacuum did not come with the original bag, But instead a vintage replacement in the Yellowy color.

Now, Picture it half-way fulled, Severely Bloated with Dog-Hair and YUCK.

Nice finds...

A Heritage Handi-Butler? That's rare!

Poke around on eBay and you may be able to find a proper bag for the Classic.

As for the Heritage '84's Bag,

super-sweeper's profile picture

I was alarmed at first of a white dust found inside the bag, But then I look closer, There was chunks of it in the bottom, Little Tan Chunks. When wet, They turned into a tan liquid, And then it hit me, I knew what this stuff was!

It was Grout! Tile Grout!

My guess is that this machine sat unused, Then bought back for home renovations, then ended up at that back-room.

I say it sat unused because there was still a Genuine Yellow Older-Style bag in the cleaner, And judging from a dime that fell out of the cleaner, This machine was used no earlier than 2005, The year the dime is dated.

Anyhow, A pump-wash with soap and water bought back it's cleanliness.

Back to the Classic Bag,

super-sweeper's profile picture

I do not plan to buy a replacement. This Classic is in bad shape, There's a missing strip of metal on the side vents and a chip in the fan case.

I do plan to replace the fan case, though.

I bought this machine for a Work Horse, One to brave the elements collection machines will not.

There's another 1-CR waiting for me back at the shop, so do not fear. That one has the correct bag.

The bag accidentally tore during the wash, Which was Sewed and threw into the machine for a better quality wash.

The spring is also busted, I'll install a new one.

The box of Attachments. I forgot to mention the Drill Attachment I got for use with the Handi-Butler.

And yes, I'll make a Video of the Heritage Butler Soon.

Alex,

The Heritage 1HD did have the Handi-Butler Group early in its run, but it was discontinued by the spring of 1983.

You should be lucky... since the Heritage 84 is a variation of the original, produced only for the first eight months of the 1984 calendar year.

"Should" be lucky?

super-sweeper's profile picture

I'm not understanding what you mean by this?

Also- What differences are there between the 1HD and '84? (Other than obvious Stickers)?

Alex,

I mean that you should feel lucky that you found a Heritage 1HD Handi-Butler Group kit.

I can't really discern a Heritage 84 from the original... I'm sorry if I confused you on this.

~Ben
