Michael, I would suggest using the Ametek motor over the Domel motor. Domel motors, although good, in my opinion & experience aren't quite as durable & long-lasting as Ametek motors are. But then again, they are manufactured in Slovenia, so that accounts for the difference in quality between the brands.

Another problem is that the Domel motor appears to be a central vac motor, judging by it's waterlift, airflow & amperage ratings. If you were to install this motor in a normal vacuum, I would think the combined amperage of the motor & powerhead motor running might be enough to trip a breaker or blow a fuse in your home. The Ametek motor you are also interested in happens to be a replacement Miele motor, & pulls 100" waterlift....so you should be more than satisfied with it's performance without risking the safety of your home's wiring.

Good luck....Rob

PS- When you say the motor died, have you checked the carbon brushes? Before you go about replacing the motor, I would check them first, & if worn down, replace them. This is most likely the cause of the issue with the Miracle Mate's motor, given the age of the vacuum & the life expectancy those motors are expected to last under household usage.
