My hoover concept one model U3319 is one of my new favorate cleaners of all time however that thing screams so loud that you couldn't hear a train when they blow their horns with it running on former power surge ( I put a constant second speed on unit) or now high. Anyone elses newer style concept that loud or is something wrong with mine?

Thanks for your input

I would not call mine quiet, but I never use power surge, no need.About like any other upright of the time I think on noise

I am not sure if the motor design is the same in the USA on 110 v versions but here in SA the 220v versions got very loud with age, The needle bearings at the pulley side o the motor were often responsible for this. Recently I did a bearing change to my Concept one and my what a difference, still not quiet at all but no more screaming.

Another thing I learned the problem could be is the suction fan. However It does sound just like a normal concept other than being much louder than my older concepts. Could it also still be the fan or is it more than likely in this case as mentioned the needle bearing (whichever bearing is used on USA models like mine).

Thanks again for your input.

They are loud to begin with, but get louder with age and wear. Mine has loud bearings, but still isn't the loudest machine I have- I give that to a Kenmore Self propelled, which is working properly- the loudest cleaner I have ever used.
