So today, I went to a HUGE sale that a town in my area has every year to benefit veterans. They really have something for everybody there! I was quite amazed to find several vacuum cleaners there. Last year I went on only the second day, and I only got a hand vac, but it was a Kirby vacuette for 50 cents! This year, they had a TON of vacuums. Of the vacuums that I did NOT buy, they had a hoover deluxe floor polisher for $30( forget that, I got a hoover polisher for $5 a month ago), a hoover dimension hardbag upright, a hoover floormate, 2 cordless dirt devil broom vacs, a Swiffer, a swivel sweeper, a dirt devil acucharge, and a eureka victory style powerline limited edition ( I have never seen a limited edition before). I almost considered that, but I saw something else that I wanted instead. They also have 2 vacuums in the holding area, which were already bought, one of the older red bagless shark uprights, maybe it was a pursuit, which I may have bought if it hadn't sold.( it was $10) They also had a dirt devil swivel glide that somebody bought for $30. (Frankly, they should've saved $10 and bought the hoover dimension instead, I think the hoover is much better.) Oh well, It was for a VERY good cause though.

Now, for what I BOUGHT! The first thing to catch my eye was this Kenmore twin fan, I've wanted one for a while, but the ones on ebay are expensive. The rubber holder that held the bag to the handle broke from wear, so the bag just "sat" on the ground. I turned it on, and it sounded ok, so I took it, for $10 "as is". I took an old shoelace, and tied it around the rod at the top of the bag, and tied it around the cord hook. Now the bag sits up. I also put a eureka F&G bag in there which seems to fit fine. It works good with 2 speeds, with the exception of the occasional rattle.

I almost didn't get the royal, but I though it was a good deal for $15. All it needs now is a new bag. I had to oil the brushroll as well, as it wasn't spinning well when I first tried it. Now it seems fine. The only condition issue is a small hole in the metal on the bottom of the handle. It was made in the us, which tells me that it isn't new, but it has the more modern height adjustment, so I think it was probably made in the mid to late 1990's.

I'm glad I looked at the other tables in the appliance section, as they don't put the small vacuums with the big ones. I found this singer spot cop on a table, for
$4. Who can beat a vacuum in the box for $4? My Bissell mini steamer is junk, so I wanted something else that could be used for small messes. I have not tried it on carpet yet, but it sounds fine. it looks like it was only used once or twice. It has everything that it originally came with as well, including solution.

Now for the SUPRISE!

It did need help though...

The bag was packed to the brim, and the brushroll was FILTHY! I cleaned the brushroll, and used a Kenmore magic blue canister bag in it, and with some tape to fasten the bag in place, it works ok with that. It was also missing the filter on the bottom of the bag compartment, so I took a filter from a hoover that I found in the trash ( no cord on it), and after I cut it to size, it looks fine. It seems to work great too! The turbo brush works really well on carpet, because of the incredibly strong suction that this has! I've heard that these are rare, I think I may have seen 2 others on this site, but i'm not sure..

very nice

Good scores are always a plus! Very nice transformax, rarely see even pictures of that model. I think back when they came out I was finacially in a position to buy one but being like 10 and having no one to support me (drive to the store) I lost out.

Its amazing how vacuums in recent years need to draw more and more power, and for what? It's not like it will clean better! I just got an electrolus guardian 75 th anniversary canister today, with bags, all of the tools incl. sidekick 2, and it works great! The cord and hose has some tape, the clips for the filter are broken, and the bulb for the power head is burnt out, but it was FREE! A woman responded to an ad I posted looking for certain vacuums, and what do you know, a complete guardian for free! It was going to be thrown out! You certainly meet generous people out there!

Wow!

That Kenmore is just like one my grandmother used to have. I have never seen another like it, thanks for sharing. :-)

Like the one you just bought. I got mine from Phillip Muller (Kirbyvertibles on this site). Thanks Phillip! It's an awesome machine and one of my favorites.

That Sanyo is a nice find Mitchell. I have the same yellow version. Mine is missing the dusting brush. Did yours come with one? I am curious to know what it looks like. Have fun with it!

Now that Sanyo is owned by Panasonic, we vac-lovers MUST start a campaign to have the company bring back this wonderful Transformax!!! What a wonderful stick vac with great versatility!!! The deluxe version with the extra dusting brush would be a hot seller I am sure!!!

:-)
