So I am trying to restore my Sanitronic VII but.... I've got a cord on it (someone replaced it with the rare white/bronze cord but ended up making it completely useless) and I'm wondering that if the Sanitronic VII and Dual Sanitronic 50 used the same cord.
Someone has a Dual Sanitronic 50 cord listed on eBay and it looks like the cord I need, but I'm unsure if it's the exact cord I need. I want to make my Sanitronic VII as original as possible and so if the cord I link to isn't the one I need, then I'll keep looking. CLICK HERE TO GO TO TASE's LINK on eBay |

All the Kirby cords from that era had the metal hook. What I was pointing out with the one in the photo just above is how long the hook is -- nearly twice as long as the "normal" ones. Also, none of the Kirbys before the Classic had double or double-wide front wheels. This was an aftermarket add-on to earlier models when the Classic came out. Using the same extended screw that affixed the wheels to the front axle of the Classic, you could either use a single wheel of the Classic type, or two of the earlier, more narrow ones. I have mixed feelings about this -- the wide front wheel width does make the machine somewhat more stable, less prone to tip over especially when using the hose, but I think it looks kinda odd since it's not original. |

D50's cord was a really light strange Carmel color. I was convinced it was a replacement....but yet it has the original 60's Kirby plug. |

Charles,
I'm beginning to wonder whether the 1963-64 season run of the Sanitronic VII (which can be identified by the use of the Kirby circle logo on the nameplate riveted to the underside of the motor unit) carried over the same coppertone trim from the prior 562? Which, thus, indicates the solid "sirocco" trim parts (bag cap, headlight bumper, handle grip, nozzle bumper) were used for the 1964-65 season run (identified by the use of the Kirby oval logo on the nameplate riveted to the underside of the motor unit). Also, didn't the Dual Sanitronic 50s, particularly those from the 1965-66 production season, have coppertone trim parts, too? Thank you, Ben |
