Well,

I have been given a cylinder S7 cleaner. The owner said that it had cur out. The exhaust filter was chocked and the machine is about 8/9 years old.

It will run on the lower speeds, but anything past 1300watts and it sounds like its arcing. It uses what I believe to be the single phase motor.

Now my questions! Is it the motor carbons that need replacing? Are they replaceable on this machine?
If not, how long will the motor last running it on the lower speeds?

Many thanks guys!

My s5 had died due to the thermal cutout blowing, but that killed it completely. I'd check that out, as well as the carbons whilst your in there

Thank you.

Like I've said it still runs, just on lower speeds. I have it apart now. But the carbons are in a bitch of a place. Which means removing the fan.. I haven't split one of these before so I don't know of its worth doing.

I suppose what I mean if it more hassle than its worth, ill just use it as it is until it packs in.

I've never stripped one either. Does it come on higher settings with a bit of a bash? Is the speed control burnt out?

Past the 1300 mark it starts sounding like its dipping, slowing down and speeding up. I haven't run it for long on them. I'm a bit of a pussy that way! Ha.

It's all in the kitchen sink at the moment so I will try it again ounces its assembled

I can't even get the nut that is holding the fan in place. It's not a good day!

your armature is bad. need to replace the armature or the motor. I am sure the older Mieles have rebuildable motors,,, not sure about the new ones. arcing is bad armature. or field.
