I got myself a used Kirby Sanitronic IV today and well... I'm in need of a bit of help.

I have yet to work on a Kirby this old so far and I have no idea how to replace the light bulb...

I can't find any information on how to do this. I found a post on here earlier telling me what light bulb I need, but that doesn't help as I need to know where the light bulb is.

The light bulb you need is part #1650 and is NLA from Kirby, although a generic equivalent of it may be found. It is not truly shaped like a bulb (as the later #109273, used on models Classic Omega-Legend II), but is oblong-shaped.

The bulb is exposed on all models 505-Classic 1CR and can be removed by just raising the headlight cap. To replace it, you simply unscrew it and remove it from its socket. Then put a new one in its place.

You'll need to obtain a new headlight socket #108268 to go with the replacement headlight.

Although the motor parts group breakdown listed below applies to models 516 to 518, models 519 to Sanitronic VII used the same headlight assembly breakdown.

Hello Will.

If you haven't already acquired the bulb & headlight socket wire elsewhere, shoot me an email & I will provide you all of my contact info. If you have, keep me in mind next time as a source for your Genuine Kirby wants & needs. I'm sure I will be able to save you substantially.

I carry only Genuine Kirby parts.

Item(s):

108268 ~~ Headlight Socket ~~ $8.14

1650 ~~ Headlight Bulb ~~ $2.96 ea. or 2 for $5.62

Plus minimal postage.

Cheers & hagn/d all,

Bill

Ps: Ben, whomever told you the light bulb is NLA, is incorrect. I order them regularly from Kirby, in fact I even called Kirby to confirm this just moments ago.

I am finding that, Kirby IS 'pulling the plug' on more & more of the models' original parts, prior to the current production model. This is unlike what the case used to be.
