Arrived at John Lewis and in quite a few different formats - claims to have a UV floor head. Good to see there are bagged cylinders and bagless ones too though. Pity there are no bagged uprights though.

Saw these on there last week hoping the price soon drops as I used to have the Samsung Silencio and it was an excellent machine one of the quietest and strongest suction cylinders I've had the pleasure of owning. When I saw this one it just made me think of Dr Dre headphones, it's like it's wearing a pair haha

Spot on observation! Never saw that until now.

It might not be a screamer though, Anthony - after all, Miele's 2200 watt vacuums aren't that loud.

that be great if it was quiet .I have 1700 watt cylinder that i use for all the dirty jobs i have to do [cleaning other vacs ect]its so noisy i use it on the 800 setting and get the job done as quickly as possible just to avoid the noise

Sadly its the same with my Miele S6 ECOLINE - at full power its far too noisy plus I'm compromised with the heavy AirTeq floor head at the same time. Compare this to the Miele S5211 with its 2200 watt motor and life is so much better, even if the machine itself sports more outright power.

We have the DC28C in the UK and the DC49! The DC49 is better.

Yes, because that's completely relevant to the discussion above regarding Samsung and Miele cylinders....

Dyson is accusing Samsung of ripping off their design.

I've been able to have a play with the new Samsung that ultraperformer posted. It doesn't feel substantial to justify the £349 price tag, the motion technology seemed rather hit and miss, I didn't think it worked very well. The dust sensor is rather gimmicky, and I'm disappointed the uv head can only be used with the handle, it can't be used on the tube, which is a shame as it is a PN.
The suction is alright and it's not too noisy, but I think it's more style and widgets over actual substance
