So I had a day off work today and went to my favorite thrift store. Sitting there was a Hoover Elite style upright for 12 dollars so of course I snatched it up! I got it home and started the task of cleaning it up. Here are some before and after pictures.

Here is pic four. This is with the hood off....I couldn't believe how much dust/hair was covering the motors air intake!

Final pic. Here's a list of everything I had to do. Replaced bag, belt and headlight bulb as well as deep cleaning of the whole machine! Also had to oil the brush roll bearing to even get it to spin... Hope you guys enjoyed seeing my little project this afternoon!

Awesome clean and detail Sean! I remember first seeing them in the stores with the convertible name on them. I couldn't believe they did that!

I have to say this was probably the most dirty Elite I've ever seen! As you may have seen in the pictures the bumper guard is missing so I used black electrical tape to make it look a little bit better then it did before. Unfortunately the hood is really scratched up from the last owner cramming it into furniture and whatever.....It also needs a new brushroll really badly as the bearing on one side is completely shot so its laud and the bristles are worn down to close to nothing. The motor however runs fantastic! Thanks again for the thoughtful feedback, Sean.

Awesome machine

I have an Elite got it at a yard sale for $3.00 and I got mad because the brush roll was stuck and wouldn't move so I tried tapping it on the ground a few times lol. A whole bunch of stuff like caked on dust fell out and then it would spin again. I use it regularly too! Elites are just great machines
