For many years I was a fan of the original Electrolux Powerplus cylinder vacuum - its just like the usual Miele cylinder vacuum design with only a few design differences or the Hoover Telios and several other company brand models - tools at the front under a flap with the suction dial in between the function pedals.
However, the Powerplus is very old now and not well built with rear wheels that wobble and thin plastics. It does have a lot of power, isn't too noisy and a good 4 litre dust bag capacity. But, the company forever fit it with a useless 4.5 metre cord, making it really unsuitable for a medium to large home. I really wish Electrolux would fit an 8 metre cord on this machine as it is a great budget bagged cylinder vac that works very well, but is let down by the short cord and poor plastics. The rear exhaust is also on the heel of the vacuum around the back, which makes steps hot to the touch if you clean with the cylinder vacuum on stairs. Sadly as far as I'm concerned, Electrolux in the UK have done very little with their current floorcare. They don't even appear to have any vacuums listed anymore on their UK website. Clearly they want to get away from floorcare, passing off their old line to Zanussi with few changes other than colours and uprated power and the luxury line given to AEG. |
