Could a worn V5 belt be used as a V14?

One thing that always bugs me with my Senior is having to throw out a perfectly good belt just because it has stretched and has started to slip, so I got wondering this morning if a stretched V5 belt would work as a V14 belt? Of course the V14 belts are slightly larger than the V5s and from the rough calculations in my head, when a V5 stretches to the point where it won't grip the brush roll anymore, it SHOULD be about the same length as a new V14?

Maybe I'm wrong, but if I am right then that would save throwing out intact belts in future.
