My aunts dog attacks any one of my vacuums all the time by snarling and biting the floor head and the reason behind it is apparently because dogs think that vacuums are attacking their owners. The solution behind it came from that lady on TV who is an animal behaviourist - the solution, though not very convenient for cleaning is to put the vacum cleaner to the side of you and push it along, Easier with a canister hose, tube and floor head than an upright - this then sends a signal to the dog that the vacuum isn't a predator.
I tried it a couple of times and it works, though sometimes my little Westie has to be reminded that the vacuum is a friend, not a foe. |

I was vacuuming at my friends house and their dog Alfie loves to bite the hose end of any vacuum! It sticks to his tongue wich is kinda disgusting yet funny! |

One of my dogs at my mom's house barks at the vacuum but seems to be kind of scared of it, and the rest are just scared of it. And at my dad's house both cats make that annoyed face that cats can make (with their ears angled back) when I use a portable vacuum (well, the only portable I have there is my Dirt Devil Handivac) but when I get out the central vac hose they both run and hide if they're near it, but then once the hose is spread out on the floor they're fine, no annoyed face or anything.

I read somewhere a while ago that dogs attacking the vacuum is bad. Sure its cute and funny, but as it turns out, particularly with small dogs, it stresses them out, and can cause seizures. Whenever I vacuum, my Chihuahua likes to attack the vacuum, but I do my best to keep him away from it for that reason.

We have a dog named dyson as we are a dyson dealer. When ever I vacuum with a vintage vacuum he barks at it and tries to bite it. He has does not bark or attack when I vacuum with a dyson.
Dyson was a rescue pup when we found him in the industrial area our shop is located in. He was tiny and all messed up but Joanne has got him into good shape. He is looking good these days sleeping on the bed he is not allowed on lol. |
