hi all,

i was wondering what is the best brand of polish to use on my hoover 700?? i have seen a few polished to a high mirror shine but as mine is a rebuild i dont know if it would look good that way.

but i still want it to be as clean looking as it can. here in the uk there might be different brands of polish than in america. any advice would be great. gary.

anything painted, as it will take it right off. But, it does a great job polishing plastic hoods, etc. I first learned of Brasso when I worked in a church. There is lots of brass (candelabras, etc) there.

I would try Autosol on it - you can buy it (in a tube) from Halfords. It great for bringing up plastics too but it is primarily a metal polish.

Try it first in an inconspicuous area first just in case

Try Blue Magic metal polish cream.

Use whatever you can find that is a good polish for aluminium. Here in the US, we have Mother's Mag and Aluminum Polish. It is designed for magnesium and aluminum car rims and works wonderfully on early Hoovers without scratching.
