A newer Hoover TurboPower has arrived in Argos, still bagless and offers 12 metres of cable as opposed to the 8.5 metres. Good to see the TP bagless is still selling despite some remarks from other UK members on here regarding its longevity on the market. Slight colour change too.

That's the same as the old UTP1605 in red. The blue version had the long cable, so they have obviously taken old stocks of the UTP1605, and added a longer cable, and the same tools as the UTP1610 that I have (the blue model)
Its not worth the £249.99, as its the same as the blue model in all but colour.

I've also noticed that Argos don't seem to keep as much in stock any more, with "order now for collection xxJune - yyJune" instead of the usual "Only x Left"

Currys seems to do this as well, so its very hard now to just go and buy one the same day as they don't keep hardly anything in stock (Especially the Sebos and AEG's) and you have to order and pay for it then wait days for it to be sent to the store you want to pick it up from. I cant be bothered buying from them if this is how they want to go.

Well they still sell both the other two Turbo Power uprights in store including the blue UTP1610. My guess is that Argos wants something exclusive even if the older blue one has been reduced in price to £124-99.

Because of the recession, franchises like Argos and Currys won't necessarily have all the models they sell in stock. In the same way that bags and filters are usually sold out with buyers being messaged etc when they come in, its the same with the brands and associated models. I don't see that being much of an issue, though buyers these days have to shop around and be prepared to have to either wait or get the next competitor.

I love the look of the Turbo Power...

I did see a Reconditioned one on eBay for £69.99, but they say their machines are not used, but missing parts, damaged boxes so they had to be sent back. I am tempted to buy one as the 12.5 Metre cord & Caresse Tool would definitely come in handy in my house.

They are not a bad cleaner, I got one for my parents last year, and whilst my father likes it, my mother (who is late 60's) finds it hard to push on the correct height setting. If you raise the head to the next height up, then its easier to push, but picks nothing up.
Its got a great length hose and cable, and seems quite robust, with the added benefit of multi cyclones which means they don't have to keep cleaning the top filter all the time.
Its worth the £124.99 as in Argos, and a much better buy than the Jazz, whish is the same model but with no headlight, a shorter hose and cable.
I cant see how they have the cheek to sell the red one as a new line and charge twice the price for is than the UTP1610, as its really a UTP1605 which was sold in Argos a year or so back alongside the blue model UTP1610.

I've recommended a Sebo X4 for their next vac, as even my mother could push one of them, and it would tell her when the bag was full and shut off if she didn't empty it on time which she is usually guilty of, and she doesn't like cleaning the filters so my father has to do it. I think the bagless novelty has worn off for them now.

Don't discount the SEBO X1.1 though - its a great vacuum that does everything the X4 can do - its also a bit cheaper to buy anyway.

As for the TurboPower - when I had pets and had my Vax Mach Air - I can certainly attest to preferring the bagless option because I was having to vacuum daily to keep the home clean and if I didn't have the Vax Mach Air, or required a new bagless upright, I'd probably consider the Hoover TurboPower. I loved the Hoover Slalom but the daft disc on the base plate to lower or increase the suction was just a silly design aspect that I didn't like and the handle never locked up properly. That model also suffered from not being able to go under the bed where my old cat could be found with tons of pet hair that she left behind, either.

Bird seed, cat hair and dog hair were the worst kinds of dirt I had to constantly clean up after. My Gtech cordless sweeper has its work cut out for itself now when my aunt leaves her pets behind for months at a time when she goes off on continental holidays but it can handle the pet hair and seed really well. Much prefer bagged vacuums in the long run but at least there's a choice for buyers.

Argos can do what they wish - particularly if they are offering or know that buyers are going elsewhere for brands and particular models. You and I know that there are equivalent models that are cheaper at cost prices but unless the buying public are aware of it, there's nothing really that "Joe Public" will be aware of, unless they put the extra time in researching products etc.

I had wanted to get the New Turbo Power in red as I quiet like the design but when I read on this site that it was just a rebrand of another non Hoover model (sorry can't remember which model) it just lost all appeal for me. The globe keep tempting me and at least that appears to be an original Hoover design.

T

The Turbo Power is another design of the Jazz...

To be honest I like the design, except the fact that it's 88 Decibels! It's either that or the Panasonic Eco-Max Bagged Upright as I like the look of it.

I know which Hoover I want but it is still in Germany and hasn't yet arrived in the UK. Its Telios eco model with 1400 watts as opposed to the full 2300 or 2200 watts power.

For me it's either the Turbo Power or the Purepower Greenray Cylinder, would prefer the TP due to it's L O N G Hose & Cord reach. There are loads of reviews saying it's revitalised peoples carpets & rid them of years of filth but i'll have to see!

I also like how you are able to fit a Hoover Jazz Dust Bin on the TP if I wanted to.

Telios Eco

Looks nice that Ryan, the black colour suits it, far bigger range on the Hoover Germany website than Hoover UK.

I doubt it - I have a feeling the Telios is made in China. Hoover don't usually make vacuums in Germany that are passed onto the UK - its more or less the Wessel werk floor heads that are added from Germany on to compete with Miele and other brands.
