I have a hoover model u4395 with the serial number of 00077459 and I was wondering if anybody could help identify the build date of the machine. my guess is that the vacuum was made in may of '89 (59). I know this vacuum comes from the 1980's, so that's why I say the vacuum (according to the serial number) was built in may of '89. if anyone has a different answer as to when my hoover was built, feel free to post your reply.
Hold the date in the serial through the first 4 numbers , like for instance, if the first four numbers are 0488, then the machine is from April of 1988. But if a date from the first four can not be formed then it was made before 1987. So yours would most certainly be made before 1987, for the fact that there is no first one or two numbers (01 through 12) that represent the month and two that represent the year (87-13). Thats the only compliant I have with collecting Hoovers's there is no certain way of knowing precisely when your machine was made other than maybe a round about run or decade. Unless, like i said it was made after 1987.
