That's very minty!

Wow, that's some find! It looks new, and will clean up to be as good as new.

No idea on the screws I'm afraid, but it's always nice finding missing fixings rattling around isn't it?!

Congrats Anthony,

I to love 65's; I have four, one of which is the early type complete in its carton and turbo polisher and has never been used, although I have run it and its sooo smooth!

I remember the second version, like yours, being demonstrated at an ideal home exhibition around 1963-5,I would have been about six at the time. The junior model being the 64 (later type with plastic ext tube, hose handle and crevice nozzle)

I even remember attempting to show my Grandmothers daily how to use the dual action upholstery/dusting tool on the stairs, I think she just regarded me as a nuisance!!

That hose looks like a late 1960's/early 70's replacement: quite good as I recall.

The 65 was in my opinion the most striking in appearance of all the luxes of the Companies period 1955-75.

If you are careful enough you can glue a large white synthetic replacement filter pad over the plastic frame; inner side... and you have a fresh filter again?

Regards, Walter

the rear filter

anthony's profile picture
yes someone has already cobbled together a replacement i will make a new one as you suggested nice for you to have one still in its box .When i was a boy practically all my relatives and a lot of our neighbours had Electrolux Zs of one model or another and most put them back in the box after use my Grandma had a 62 she only ever used it with the upholstery nozzel on the end of the two wands the other tools never got used she was still using it right up to her death in the early nineties its mine now when my parents were clearing her house they found it under the stairs in its box with its tools spray gun and instruction manual the tools were as new but the upholstery nozzel had rounded off corners after all those years of use

Plastic screws

I am fairly sure the plastic screws go into 2 of the 4 points on the rear of motor. Each point has a spring, two have rubber mouldings, and two have plastic screws, I think.

hello Dysondestijl [god thats not easy to spel]dont wory about the postage it wont be much just need your address. I think your right Vintagerepairman there is no where else they could go there are two rubber stops on two of the springs and two holes in the centre of the other springs.i have stripped the motor today and cleaned all the carbon deposits out i love doing this kind of thing when i repaired vacs for a living i never had time to do such a thorough job on them it was just a case of getting them working and back to the customers but now i can take my time.I am glad i decided to do this as i said earlier every screw had worked loose on this machine and although the motor ran fine the bearings were dry so i have cleaned the bearings and stuffed them full of loverly fresh grease i am a great believer in lubricating anything that moves . the fans and fan chamber have been washed to remove all the dust that has managed to get throught the bag over the years i also opend up the floor nozzel it was full of fluff and dirt thats been lubricated as well before i put it back together anyway guys theres a fiew more photos coming

Screws

It looks to me like the plastic screws have sheared off. For a cleaner in such good condition, it is a mystery as to why the screws were all loose.

the plastic screws

anthony's profile picture
yes i was thinking the same the only other explanation is that someone has opened it and not put it back together properly it is in good condition but there is wear on the tools so its been well used also the rubber bumpers on the clips that hold the front on are perished

History/parts ?

Hi there,
Johnny Clarke here from New Alresford in Hampshire UK.I have one of these, my Mum had one when i was a kid and I loved it, so had to have one myself in later years. They are fantastic machine and I feel much better than modern plastic ones that only last 5 mins. I am after a radiator nozzle and a floor attachment, mine broke ! :-( Also would love to know about the history of these, what year they were released etc...I know my mum had hers for as long as I can remeber..5 years old upwards, I was born in 1962...any relies could also be sent to my email johnny0clarke@gmail.com
Many thanks Johnny

Hey Johnny. As you can see from the Electrolux filter guide below the model 65 was made from 1960 to 1965. Thought this might give you a bit more info on it.
