When I got my Hoover Turbopower Freedom I had endless discussions with my mother about whether she had the Turbopower Freedom or the Turbomaster Freedom and she definitely knew it had the Permabag because she used to hate bashing the hell out of the little square pleated filter, needless to say she hated the vacuum.

My mum had her heart set on it being the Turbopower Freedom when I showed it her, I showed her a picture of the Turbomaster Freedom and she said "oh, no, it wasn't like that at all, it is like your one" but this family photo shows otherwise...

I know it is CERTAINLY a Turbomaster Freedom because of the variable power lights on the top right hand corner of the front body, that the Turbopower version did not have and plus the shape of it is different.

My Grandma bought my mum and dad a VAX 121 for a wedding present in 1988 and after a couple of years she hated using it because it was a cylinder and put strain on her back so she decided to get a new cleaner that was an upright. Mum didn't have much money at that time so she went to our local (at the time) Electricity Board shop where they did payment plans as Argos and such places didn't do that then, like they do now, the Electricity Board was the only way she could afford it. She told me she was looking at a bagged Hoover model with flex winder (I was getting excited at this point) I said "yes, Autoflex!!" she said that was the one she wanted because it had cord rewind and would be quick to store away. The lady in the shop said that they didn't have it in stock until the next month, but they had a new model that came in which was bagless and you didn't have to buy a bag ever again...You can imagine what she thought, she would of been like oooo, that's fantastic, so anyway she bought a Hoover Freedom and later HATED it (who could blame her). She got rid of the Freedom as soon as she had finished paying for it (a bit silly) which was probably about 1993 and bought an Electrolux Contour and then after that broke in about 1997 she got a Dyson DC01 De stijl (keeps getting better, doesn't it?). The DC01 was the oldest cleaner I remember her having, I do seam to have slight flash backs of the contour but I am sure it was an Airstream, not sure what makes me feel that.

After all that banter...Here is the Picture of the Turbomaster Freedom in the corner of the room, god, the days when that carpet was kept clean!

Nice!

Go and scour the loft in case any of it is upstairs!

I found a Vax 121 floor brush that my step dad didn't remember he had until I showed him and he remembered!

citroenbx, I'm sorry, but your post doesn't make any sense. I know some members on here have difficult with spelling and grammar, but please can you try and make sure that what you're saying makes sense? I really don't understand what you're trying to say. I'm not trying to discourage you from posting at all here, just asking to please make sure that what you're trying to say is clear to others.

This is documented in the forum rules:

Posting Quality: There will be no text-message style talk allowed in the postings. A minimum of 20 words per post will be required in most cases. On occasion this rule will certainly be waved for members in good standing, but any member who continually posts threads with minimal content will be warned and banned if they continue. As for spelling and grammar I am the first to admit I am terrible at both. I go back and look at some of my old postings and think wow that was a dumb spelling mistake. But do I try to get it right, I go back and proof at least once if not more. I still make mistakes, but the point is I try to get it right. Everyone makes mistakes and I wont be a grammar and spelling freak, but for those who constantly make tons (and I mean a large very obvious amount) of mistakes you will be warned to try harder or you wont be welcome to post here anymore.

Alexhoovers94 - just in case you might be interested - Sensotronic is selling a nice Turbomaster on Ebay currently, you could buy it for your mother as a special gift?

Christ, she wouldn't want another, she was so put off by the Turbomaster Freedom she had, she wouldn't go near Hoover again, stupid woman, still can't convince her how good the bagged versions are (Sigh).
I would go for that if it didn't have so many issues.

So many issues?

But Alexhoovers - even if your mother doesn't appreciate the sheer quality of a bagged Hoover, you don't use all your vacs do you - you would have it for show, to sit on your bunk bed and look at lovingly every day ;-)

I'm sure Roger maybe open to a reasonable offer if you ask him politely? These vacs are rare, and overall its in excellent condition - you also live quite close to Halifax don't you?
And you are good at fixing Hoovers aren't you?
Perhaps if you fixed it, your mother might like it again after all
