I thought I had already done a thread about this one, but I obviously didn't, ahh well, here we go.

Here is my Turbopower 2 U2462, this was the most basic Turbopower 2 that was available from the original line up, which consisted of the U2462 the basic, bag light only model, U2464 Autosense and U2466 Autosense and Permabag System 2.

I got this Turbopower 2 from eBay for only a fiver, mainly because I only had Autosense models and wanted a standard model but also, it was from my area which was only a 5 minute drive to pick up, so I didn't give it a second thought.

It did need a good clean and unfortunately I have no before pictures to show you but I can assure you it was dirty! The motor bearings were and still are bad, it kind of sounds like it was missing some fan blades (which they are not, they are intact) the amount it vibrates when turned on is ridiculous! Like I said before, I don't think Turbopower 2/3/1000 motors are serviceable, but, I could be wrong, I will have to get another 800 watt donor machine or just get another 800 watt motor from somewhere.

Despite the motor it also has a split bag door (how surprising!!!) but other than that it is in quite good condition with some marks but no cracks anywhere, which, to be honest, the Turbopower 2's didn't really break that easily anyway, well, other than the bag door splitting, they were overall VERY sturdy, it is the sturdiest "plastivac" I have ever used.

Here she is...

The "standard" switch panel as opposed to Autosense.

It does normally sit flush, but I exaggerated it for the photo.

Tools...

As you can see it came with the later style wider hose with ergonomic hand grip, but it still has the short crevice tool, which I imagine in later months they would of taken it off as they did away with the short crevice tool when Turbopower 3 came out, in 1994, which is the year this Turbopower 2 was made.

The Activator brushroll and new styled base plate which corresponded with the quick release dust channel thing.

I will leave you with a question.

alexhoovers94's profile picture

Do you think I should leave it like this - with the wider hose ( which it originally came with) or....

Or...

Should I put this hose on it, the narrow hose (which they put on the earlier models) I like it better, it fits more neatly in the tool caddy.

I had finally got the boost of energy and looked at this machines motor because it did need some attention, after cleaning all the dust from inside it's motor and giving the bearings a good lubrication it now runs smooth again! :D
Before this machine vibrated like crazy! It sounded god awful.
A video will be posted of this one soon.
