hi all. i would like to be able to meet other collectors in this country and share our common interests. i talk to rugsucker a lot on the phone but never had the chance to actually see him in person. since they have conventions in the U.S i thought a mini meet would be great here. any thoughts or ideas???

A UK meeting is highly unlikely, as 95% of Vacuumland are Americans. The small amount of members in the UK seem to live in each four corners of the country, or are too young to host a meet. With the economic climate and the ridiculous cost of fuel nowadays, its just getting too expensive to travel any significant distance for many of us.

British collectors

Hope this idea could move toward likley maybe even meeting at a museum location if convenient. But as to British collectors could one of you know,or be,the one featured in a Enquirer type newspaper picture years ago?The picture showed a staiway with both walls having tank vacs hung by ends of rails. Was nice display as if sculpture for walls.I hope I still have 'in a box somewhere'.But which box?-Happy Hoovering.

I did discuss a mass UK meet up not so long ago, but didn't have many takers or anybody that was keen to help arrange such an event.

Most of the UK collectors are sort of in pockets and little sub-groups of friends -I see a few collectors that I consider close friends fairly frequently, but I don't think there has ever been a big meet up.

We're not all that far away from eachother and not all too young - there are certainly enough of us to make a meet happen, should there be demand for it.

i really wish i could get a new visa so i could move back to the states. at least there me and jim (rugsucker) could go see other collectors as well as being able to finally be able to work in his shop. albeit 15 yrs later than planned. americans dont seem to worry much about distances like the brits do.
