I just got a really nice Hoover Concept One (model U3101 I believe) and was wondering how to get the front cover off? (the part that's covering the cord and cord reel.) I got it all off except for the last corner nearest to the headlight. Anyone know how to get that off?
OOH and the bag? I removed the 2 screws, but that plastic piece seems really stuck onto there. I'm afraid to force it, so. ANY TIPS ANYONE?

Sounds right.. Did you remove the bag assembly? The back should come out to access the cord winder.

If anyone knows anymore, please help this guy out.

you have to get the bag off (two screws at the base of it and the retaining bracket on the back)first. Then there are 4 screws on the back cover, which allows for the removal of the front cover which is covering the cord reel. For those 4 screws orientation is important; the top two must go to the top, and so forth. I think I know what you are talking about with that plastic retainer holding the bag in place...I have yet to figure out how to get mine off. But you may still be able to reach the 4 screws without removing the bag, or at least I am going to try tomorrow.

I did get the 2 screws out of the bottom of the bag, and did get that off, but the top part is really on there.
And the 2 screws at the top of the back of the cord reel, I was able to get to them with the bag still being on there, which I'm guessing is how I got the top released? (of the front cover) but the bottom is still stuck. Just on one corner, which is what's throwing me. Cause there's no screws that I can see holding it.

The key piece...

has no screws but you do use a screw driver to remove it. Inside the bag copartment is a curved plastic piece with 2 vertically oriented slots. Stick the screw driver in one slot & bend to to unseat the friction fit curved piece. Repeat with second slot. I'm not near my Concept now to be sure the piece i'm talking about holds fast to the front cover or not. But it is a key piece in a Concept teardown.
