I used to have a "library quiet" Sharp Twin Energy. It wasn't super quiet, I do think it had an electronic suction control on it. It was really lower pitched, which did make it sound a bit quieter, and it was a quite strange vacuum, partly due to its huge back wheels. When I got it (my dad's girlfriend found it near the dumpster at her apartment complex) it had a brand new disposable bag that had a clear strip going down the front of it (it was so you could just look at it to see how full it is) in it. I have yet to see another bag similar to that. |

For sale at vdcdiscounter.com, see link. In my experience they are very much like the similar in appearance Panasonic offerings..

Shetland-Lewyt had done it some 30-years earlier in their canister with See-thru Speed Sacs. I've also seen bojack Type A Hoover bags with that dust window. I've always thought it was a clever design. Are they not popular because of increased cost to the manufacturer? - Hershel |

I've heard of the Lewyt Speed Sacs before, never seen one though. It might be a good idea if they had a clear bag cover, so that you didn't have to open it to check the bag (I don't know if the Shetland-Lewyt machine had that) but of course the Sharp didn't have a clear cover. It wasn't an original Sharp bag either. |

... that the Cleartrak has a very quality feel to it.
I got my Fantom around the same time Mom got her Cleartrak. I like my Fantom's hose and extension wand better (the house on the Fantom feels much more durable compared to the plasticky hose on the Cleartrak), but her filter is washable, as opposed to my expensive HEPA filter that seems to need changing almost quarterly. Still, the Cleartrak feels more "quality" than the Fantom. It could be the plastic. And it's certainly less bulky. But it's still a screamer! Great if you have no neighbors within a five-mile radius. |
