Hi. I need some info from you Electrolux experts out there. I found a beautiful Model E tank, all original (except for hose) in a thrift store this weekend. It has the combination dusting brush/upholstery brush attachment in gray, but the rug nozzle and floor brush are the style used by the later Model 30s and the 60s. I seem to recall being told that the very early Model Es had these tools and that the combination floor tool began later (perhaps when the AE made it's debut). Also, the plastic "stabilizers" on the front wheel are missing, and I think that they, too, came later. Am I right about any of this? Can anyone tell me the timeline of E and AE production? Thanks.

You can read all about the E at the link -- No, the E never had the metal "LX" style tools. One of the features advertised about it was that you can "clean your entire house with two tools" -- the combination dusting & floor tools.

The first E did not have the plastic stabilizer. That did not come until later.

Favorite E fact: It was the ONLY Electrolux to EVER have a painted, instead of chromed, machine-end suction coupler! I did find a nice Model T with a hammertone coupler but I think that's a replacement hose. I have seen several Ts over the years and they have all had the same hose as the AE, woven vinyl (not cloth)

Just to clarify.....

the E had the hammertone coupler right? The AE did not. 'Cause I'm gonna be real boo boo'ed if the AE had the hammertone.

Right, it was the E with the hammertone machine-end coupler, not the AE.

I'll take a photo later--

(note that this hose is a little faded - when new, the gray part was very gray, and the blue tracing was bright "bluish-turquoisey".)
