Hello out there !!! Vacuumland friends. Well ive be looking, and intersted in Metropolitan for a good while now . And so i was wonder if anyone has , or owns one .to tell me share your opinon . Like pros, and cons. What you like about the vacuum . What you don't , also what about the filtration how well does it work?. Ive read good reviews and bad ones. I know its not 100 precent American made . Most vacuums today do use parts from other Countries. Which is a shame. One the reason i like it , is because its very Retro looking. It look soild but i can be wrong. Anyways can't to see what you guys think. Josh

I do not, but have used a couple of them and really liked the Durable feel that they had to them, I kinda do wish I owned one.

I really want one but a store in dallas sells them. But at 600 dollars which i don't find to be that bad. But the dusting brush looks cheap and so do the bags

I own the stainless steel Metropolitan with the direct connect wands and hose handle, power nozzle with steel brush roller. The exhaust port blows things around, the exhaust stream is not deflected. Just a tremendous blast. No post motor filter so carbon dust escapes. The HEPA filter is in front of the motor. The bags filter very well, they offer both paper or HEPA cloth disposable bags. The wheels do not swivel, it's somewhat more difficult to pull around than, say, a Royal Power Tank that has swiveling front casters. Metropolitan started life in Suffern, NY, to rebuilt the thousands of Electrolux model 12 and 30's traded in by Hoover dealers. They were known for their Lux rebuilt vacuums until the mid 80's. All the tools, wands, nozzles, hoses, etc. are 'fit all' type available to most any vac shop. No storage for the tools on-board. Cord wrap halo has a somewhat sharp edge - got a nasty cut from mine. On the plus side, they are very powerful, with a dual stage "lamb" type motor. Nice vacuum, but very basic.

Re

Thats interesting . I wish the hepa filter was after the motor. Ive only seen paper bags and a outer cloth bag for it. I think it would make a fun vacuum to own . But i would be buying bags for it over the internet.

Cons of the Metropolitan ADM-4PNHSF Full Size Caniser Vacuum

I researched the Metroplotian ADM-4PNHSF full size caniser vacuum cleaner and even though there was several items I felt could be improved there was one item that by itself stopped me from buying one. The front wheels don't swivel so I feel the front wheels will mar a hardwood floor if you pull sideway on the vacuum which is impossible to not do. Also, this probably means the front wheels won't last very long. I feel the folks at MertoVac knew this but decided to go with the cheaper fixed front wheels. Got to make one wonder what else they went cheaper with that has an inexpensive fix. The price range I found was $400.00 to $900.00 online so the unit is not inexpensive but I feel is cheaply designed. I'm certainly not opposted to a company making a profit and know it is necessary to stay in business and give people jobs but when it's at the expense of the end user that's wrong.

As a result, I called Air-Tec (978-343-9872) or (978-345-5103) www.air-tec.com... and talked to them about there BK2000 vacuum. They told me they had bought all the dies used to make the HandyWay Sani Clean vacuum cleaners. They said the changes they have made are simply to bring the BK2000 up-to-date technologically which makes sense. The price from the factory is $700.00 with the standard power head and $750.00 with the deluxe power head. It comes in either green with chrome trim or blue with gold trim, has a nine foot power hose and it has (swivel front wheels _ YES IT DOES). It has 108 water lift (sealed) and 103.5 CFM. This may not match a vacuum with a 1,000 hp but it ain't all bad and the front wheels swivel....did I say that? Also, and this is amazing...in addition to the warranty they have a 10 year repurchase agreement. Clearly, the people at Air-tec are old school and believe "it is as it should be" to stand behind what you design, build and sell. I ordered one today....will post again after using the BK2000 Vacuum Cleaner.

Con's of the Metropolitan ADM-4PNHSF full size vacuum

I researched the Metropolitan ADM-4PNHSF full size canister vacuum cleaner and found several things I felt could be improved and one of them stopped me from buying it. The front wheels on it don’t swivel so I feel it will leave marks on hardwood floors when pulling the vacuum from side to side. Since it appears the front wheel on the Metropolitan OV-4BCSF Compact Canister Vacuum swivels it seems to follow that the people at MetroVac knew front wheels should swivel. I found prices from $400.00 to $800.00 online for the ADM-4PNHSF so it is expensive but in my opinion cheaply designed. I understand a company has to make a profit to stay in business and give people jobs but when a design is at the expense of the end user that’s wrong.

As a result, I called Air-Tec and talked to them about their BK2000 canister vacuum cleaner. I was told they bought the “Sani Clean” dies and that the only changes they have made are to bring it up-to-date technologically which makes sense. And yes, it has swivel front wheels. I was told it has 108” water lift (sealed) and 103.2CFM so even though it may not be the biggest dog on the porch it sure has a mean bite. The factory direct price is $700.00 with the standard power-head and $750.00 with the deluxe power-head and comes with a nine foot long power hose. The two color choices are green/silver trim or blue/gold trim. I ordered one today…..will get back to you after I experience the BK2000.

Odd choices for their standard vs deluxe power nozzles, though - aren't the Wessel Werk nozzles usually thought of as better than Centec, on the whole?

The Air-Tec Black Knight also comes with the metal Air-Way attatcha-carrier and METAL bare floor tool and rug tool. They ARE Air-Way attachments through and through. Even Air-Way bags fit the Black Knight (and vice versa). I love the Black Knight, have had one for almost 4 years (green one with 9 foot hose and Wessel Werks deluxe power nozzle). I love it. It's worth every penny of its price.
