Aside from differences such as bag type and appearance etc, does anyone know if there is any difference in performance between the current Hoover Portapower as opposed to the one sold under the Platinum Collection?

The PortaPower weighs twice as much, has a larger diameter hose (the lighter one in the pic) & much larger shake out bag (with optional paper bag adapter kit). The platinum has hepa bags. I haven't used my recently acquired Platinum portable so i can't comment on performance.

Porta Power

I have the Commercial Porta Power. It works ok. but the hose is awful. I use an old Dial A matic hose on it.The bag is a mess to clean out. I should convert it someday/

I'll probably wind up spending the extra $30 or so dollars to get the PortaPower; the bags for it are cheaper and according to the schematics it has a dual-stage motor. I haven't able to find any info as to rather or not the one from the platinum collection is dual or single-stage. I'm guessing it's probably not.

I love my Portapower CH30000. I have bought a bag adapter and converted it to a hepa bags using the bags from the Platium portapower looking vac. The bag collar has to be removed and I use duct tape to keep the bag in place and create a good seal. I have also added the wheeled carrier and tool holder to the hose.

I'd go for the Portapowers that used the Spirit motor.
