Clearly i'm still not very good at working on bypass motors i kinda messed up the armature on my Dirt Devil i got a few of those back into place, what holds those on anyways? i was trying to get the fan off of it and didn't realize it was reverse threaded so i actually ended up tightening it even more >_>. It also ended up sliding some of the little bars out of place.
i've never seen this happen before should i just consider the armature shot?

I would consider the armature toast. The bars that you wedged out of place most likely broke away from the wires they are connected to, and if you tried to run it the way it is, it would either arc and spark like the fourth of july or, if it actually ran, the centrifugal force on the loosened bars would cause them to fly out, most likely destroying the rest of the motor. What was wrong with it when you took it apart?

It had bad bearings. The front one was the more troublesome one. Well if it's done it's done i guess. Does anyone have a spare armature or motor for the 9.5 amp deluxe?

replacement

I know the newer dirt devil breezes and cheap bagless machines used very similar motors, or at least the ones up to at least 2009 do. I don't know if there is any difference in the armature from the 9 to 12 amp. but maybe you can pick up one of those dirt devils for cheap and use the armature.

Try a good vac shop that fixes vacuums-they might have a motor that was salvaged from another similar machine or another rotor in their parts junk box.The area that is damaged on that armature is the pole peice laminations-this probably disloged or broke the armature windings.
