Are there any significant differences between the two Kirby Sentria models (Sentria and Sentria II)?

There are some cosmetic changes (in terms of colour of trim and bag). The hand grip at the bottom of the Sentria II handle is blue, vs. the orange hand grip on the Sentria, and the bag on the Sentria II has a retro brown/blue design vs. the grey bag on the Sentria with abstract squares on it.

The Mini-Emtor on the Sentria II appears smaller than that on the original Sentria.

Is that all the difference there is?

As far as I can tell.....

Just a color change. Still pretty loud, but I like it. New one piece mini emptor that was used on the later Sentria's as well.

Kirby Sentria II & Changes...

a007kirbyman's profile picture
Hello Rob (& all).

Bud (pr-21) pretty much 'nailed it' with the 'changes' that are on the Sentria II Kirby, as did Francis (kirbytradition7) with the 'cosmetic ones.'

However, that said, these changes (with the exception of the colors & bag pattern) were all done as "rolling changes" on the prior model Sentria. The 'changes' started back around 2007.

Some of these other changes, not mentioned above include the Zipp Brush, bag zipper, polymer base pan, 4-position handle pivot assembly, surface nozzle wheels, etc.

They ARE LIGHTER than previous "G model" Kirbys, (& even MORE DURABLE with the polymer material.) [[ I was initially concerned, when they (The Kirby Co./SF) started using 'other' materials than aluminum, like they've used for approximately 85 years! I've found that quality & durability is NOT an issue. ]]

The airflow (hence cleaning) is more powerful with the re-designed Emtor. It is a 'smoother' path for the air (& debris) to reach the bags.

If anyone desires add'l info on 'changes', I encourage you to refer to one of my prior posts in this thread (if the link at the bottom here does not work):

I hope this info. helps clarify a few things.

Cheers & hagd all,

Bill

Are the motor RPM values available....

...for the older machines (Classics, Dual Sanitronics and 500 series)? Maybe I should post this question on the Vintage forum.

One big change I see from Sentria 1 to 2 is --- the transmission on the S2 - you cannot push the vacuum without the power turned on if in the drive position with the S2 --- which I think was a great change from S1 to S2 as the S1 would allow you to push the vacuum around without power it on if left in the drive position..

the first few months on the S2's were made the power cord grey color cord was used on them - it was the same color cord that came with the S1's. Now the S2's that were recently made have the tan power cord on them too which matches all the new tan color parts on the machine....
