Yay, the brute has landed!

How's she running? So glad you've got your hands on one of these.

Is she quieter than mine? And how's she DRIVING?

That really is a great looking unit, Seamus. You're going to love that for a long time! Here's my self-propel again:

Si

She handles fine and is a bit quieter than yours I guess but not by a lot!

Ive fitted new brush strips and a new brushroll belt so far :)

She is gonna need a powerdrive belt soon as well tho- you can see the cracks :(

Yay! I can tell you're thrilled to get one. Here's its Canadian cousin made in Burlington Ontario model U6043 in 1976 or later per the patent stamps on the bottom. You know I think they still look as "au courant" today as anything else currently on the market. In fact if you showed it to someone not that into vacuums as your new vacuum cleaner they probably would think that it was a new model just out.

Thanks Guys :)

Ian

Yup its a fantastic addition to my "US Collection"

Alan

I love the Orange colour of yours! I believe we actually had that model over here, but im not aware of any UK collector having one(off the top of my head I know 5 collectors who have the U6033- including me).

Pete

The main visible difference between this and your U6043 is the nameplate- mine just has Power Drive in large font- no mention is made of it being a Dial A Matic. Will post a close up later :). Also mine has the UK spec switch assembly.

Wow!

Hey Seamus, just sent you an email, but writing here specifically about the Powerdrive - it looks amazing! From the 'uncovered' photo, it looks mint - very little in the way of restoration needed, at least!

I'm sure it'll be very happy in it's new home, and I couldn't think of a more-deserving owner!

Nice one Seamus, looks like its ready to go and showroom condition, they certainly are heavy vacs, try pushing that without the powerdrive!!!

Can you still get original Hoover bags of any sort rather than bojack etc....

Enjoy, Mike

Can't wait to see her scrubbed up - that furniture guard making me itch to reach for the Jif hehehe.

Changing the bulb is easy - take the front cover off by undoing the screws in the bag chamber, and pull out and up! She'll use the later DF bulbs, like on the Turbopowers.

The drive belts are common with the PD Concepts and the Powermax - there's plenty on Ebay USA (which is where I got my pack).

I do love the Power Drive - so long's you don't have to carry it up stairs, it really is the most effortless of Hoovers!

Si

:-)

Jack

Have just replied ;).

Mike

This is only the 2nd power drive cleaner ive used- the 1st being Simons one - I cant believe the difference it makes!!.

Genuine bags are still availiable (H14) but belts are obsolete both as Genuine and pattern(from Electruepart- I believe Qualtex still do them tho- thats where my stash came from anyhow!).

The Powerdrive belt on mine is starting to crack- Im hoping I can get one from the US, but looking at it im thinking a Turbopower belt may do the job- thats what im gonna try tonight anyhow!.

Drop me a txt if ya fancy a chat this eve!

Seamus

Uses the same hose coupling as the Portapower, which is very convenient as you can imagine ;]

I think CIF is the same stuff as our VIM. Try a little on any real silver you have laying about, takes the tarnish off real easily, it also shines aluminum quite well with a little more rubbing, almost as good as stuff made strictly for aluminum
