I am so excited. I stopped at a local thrift store today and looook what I found!

A beautiful Rainbow model SE complete, in excellent overall condition, and even came with the over-sized water pan. It just needs a spa day and a belt replacement in the power nozzle. I paid $60 for the whole vacuum.

My First Rainbow SE

Brad,
Now that was a find at $60.00. I have only seen ONE Rainbow at a thrift store and they wanted $75.00, just for the machine and it was in horrible shape.
Love them or hate them, the Rainbow is one of the few cleaners that seem to hold value after years and years.
I bought that same machine new and still own it after 18 years of use. I was thinking of selling mine when I bought the new model and was surprised at what they are still bringing on ebay.
Your's has the newer and better power nozzle. It should clean up nice. If you have never used a Rainbow before you will be surprised at how much fine sand and grit it will pull up because of the continuous air flow. A Rainbow is a Rainbow,is a Rainbow so no matter what model or age you maitain the air flow and suction. If you don't like using it,you can always sell it for a profit. After all these years mine still amazes me at the amount of sand and grit it will pull out of thick carpets with not near as powerful hose suction as a lot of my machines.
That was your lucky day price wise.
Rob

That's the SE "Performance Edition". Someone told me there was a slight change to the motor over the regular SE, but it's heresay since I've not seen it in writing. I have one and it's a great performer!

thanks

I like the motor in this vacuum . It is very quiet and seems to have decent suction. Ill post some more pics after the spa day.

Brad,

You have definitely come across a steal there! I too recently purchased a Rainbow SE with all of the attachments, however I didn't catch such a break on the price, in fact I paid close to $250.00 for it! I don't regret my purchase however, as I and my family suffer from allergies so this thing has been a lifesaver! I vacuum quite frequently and am amazed each and every time I dump the "stuff" out of that water basin!

I do like that updated power nozzle you have with your machine and I hope to pick one up for mine eventually as my machine came with an original one, but the seller did replace the motor and brushroll in it, so it's not all that bad! They are wonderful machines, well I should say, it's wonderful if you like Rainbow vacuums, some folks can't stand them, and some folks love them! Congrats again!

Nice vacuum; $60 for a Rainbow SE was a steal!Tongue out

I remember my parents bought our SE & paid $1500.00 back in 1992; & it included the R-4375C PN, RainbowMate, AquaMate & Deluxe Accessory Pack.

love my d4

I was given my machine for free but after a complete lower motor rebuild, pn and vac cords, buying used attachments and a rainbowmate, and the dolly I'm in about $300. But the only initial costs was the rebuild at $150 with the dolly purchase at the same time. Wish I could find a PE nozzle for cheap but I like the kenmore nozzle I use with my D4 enough to hold off on buying the PE nozzle. Along with my innovation, it's the pride and joy of my clothes closet.

Hey Brad -

Looks great and for 60 dollars that's a steal.........Are you going to check the fans? I only say that because the fact that it's used you never know how the previous owner used it and there may be dirt on the fans.

thanks Mark

Yes I will be checking the fans....is there a proper way to do that?

have you done this before with your rainbow?

I don't know quite honestly personally how to clean the fans on the type of rainbow you have or ANY rainbow for that matter.. I'm not nearly brave enough to even go there......but someone here knows. I've seen posts.....

I'm sure there is info somewhere online.......But you have to be careful
