MSRP $899
See link for more details. Seems to be Electrolux's TOL vac in the U.S., is it a contender? Why or why not is what i'm wondering...

I have a Nimble upright that i rather fancy at the moment, quiet, manuverable & effective. I bought it as a demo at a greatly reduced price & have been happy so far. Looking foreword to this UltraOne canister becoming availble with a similar drastic discount to MSRP.

Though excellent at cleaning bare floors and above the floor surfaces, this Electrolux was rated by Consumer Reports as only "good" for carpet cleaning. At $800, it seems that there are cheaper canisters that perform better.

Here is Consumer Reports take on this model:

"Overall this is a very good canister vacuum cleaner that was excellent at cleaning bare floors, keeping emissions low and picking up pet hair. It also provides excellent airflow for tools. But of canister brands, Electrolux is among the most repair-prone in our brand-reliability surveys.

Carpet cleaning= good
Bare floor cleaning=excellent
Air flow thru the hose for tool use=excellent
Emissions control=excellent
Noise suppression=very good
Handling (pushing, pulling, carrying)=fair (the entire package with power nozzle weighs 25 lbs)
Pet hair removal =excellent

Highs:
The Electrolux is excellent at cleaning bare floors, keeping emissions low, and picking up pet hair.
Lows:
This model scores only good for cleaning carpets.

Eurekaprince, thanks for posting...

but let me emphasize, big box store demonstrator vacs are available at drastically reduced prices (upwards of 75% off MSRP or more)...with a few scuffs & no warranty, which i'm okay with. I have bought a couple so far & plan on more in the future, really a whole new avenue in this hobby for those of us on a budget to branch out into.

So you see the CR cost benefit analysis straightjacket need not keep one from owning, what, for my money, is one sweet machine. If of course this UltraOne is anything like the comparatively cheap white Electrolux Oxygen3 canister i glimpsed a few days ago, ooh la la!

For me too much rationality is a buzz kill...consider, i'd reckon most here have far more vacs than necessary to clean with (space permitting)...senseless, harmless, good times imo ;-)

Found a video...

See link, the comments are about what i expected, svelte but flimsy..

To correct my previous post, i probably saw a white & tangerine Oxygen, not an Oxygen3.

It would have to be a insane discount / street price. The older power nozzle is supposed to clean carpets better and the thing supposedly has many repair issues.

There are tons of video about the ultraone. Even one showing how "sealed" the system is using a tiny smoke machine.

It looks interesting but the initial price will make many bypass it for other brands that have better proven or heck even better perceived capabilities.

You know, it seems like a cool-looking modern canister vac. Its only problem is that it is a mediocre carpet cleaner. Electrolux should sell a suction-only version in North America like the European versions!!! Give us a non-electrified lighter hose and wands, and some deluxe on-board attachments and a cheaper price and it would become a great buy for us here in 120Volt-land!

I do not like the 3in1 combo tool they provide with the UltraOne. The canister is large enough to store 3 separate deluxe tools to make good use of the powerful airflow through the hose. And a deluxe horsehair bare floor brush would be nice too....:-)
