Picked this up for a song, it was a store return.
This is my first experience with the direct drive brush roll. So far I love it! but only for carpet cleaning. The suction is extremely powerful, rendering the hose almost useless to use. It just clamps down on anything it gets close to.

I've never used one that new before, but what a cool find. Does it have variable suction control built into the power switch? I always thought that switch looked like a slider with variable power, but I've never been around one up close before. I like that the dirt sesnor is on the bottom instead of halfway up the machine body... then you don't have to look away from the floor. I almost ran over my cat's tail once when I was using mine because I was watching the lights!

I have the older one (but not the first one... the blue one, not purple), and I really enjoy it... one of my favorite machines. I need to re-make the youtube video for it because when I did the one that's on there now, I was "between cameras" and using a cell phone and thats to nice a machine to have such a bad video LOL

I wish it was a variable power switch! Then I could turn the hose suction down! Its just a 3 position unit though. Off>>Suction Only>>Suction+Brushroll.
My roommate was trying to use it in his bedroom today, but didnt have the brush roll on. He thought it was pretty junky, until I slid the switch all the way down lol.
