Just as I had promised myself that I wasn't going to buy any more vacuums for awhile, ebay sends me a message on a "Lightly Used" Kirby D-80. One of my must have machines. So I'm in the bidding.
I think the price is already more than what it was costing new.

I love my DS80, now that I finally have a brush roll for it. I use it mostly for my bedroom because the room is small and quit full of furniture, plus I can get more of the DS80 under the bed than I can with the Tradition or Legend II.

WOWWWWWWWWWWW

Thats one of the best Kirby's I've seen for a long time, Beautiful I'm not sure we had this model in the UK, the only one I have ever seen here was in a Kirby service centre in Nottingham but it was not for sale they had it for display only. The 1st Kirby I can remember seeing was the Cherry Red Classic 2

I have always loved the D-80. It was the last of the small head "original" style Kirby. The next model was the Classic, Followed by Classic Omega, and then Classic III. The Classics may have been the best selling Kirby of all time, but the D-80 was the forgotten brother that demonstrated the refinements that were developed up to that time. It was more or less the Sentria II of it's time. It was the last of the model run and everyone was anticipating the new redesign. The D-50 gave us the Sani-Pocket, the two speed motor. The D-80 had those with the wider handle fork and the unforgettable and never used again Avocado Green. I am not sure of the sales numbers, but I know the D-80 is one of the harder ones to find. Even when I was selling Kirby in the 80's I only ran across one when I was demoing, and she wouldn't let go of it.

This one is a buet, and to have attachments that were either never or hardly used, Bonus.

Three days left on the auction.

Hi Mike, When was it you came to Nottingham? It must be a few years ago as my friend Ken who owned the Nottingham Kirby service centre closed the shop a good few years ago and took it all on the road.

No we didn't have the Dual sanitronic 80 over here in the UK but there was one on display with the Classic III in the window of the Notts Kirby service which Ken won in 1988 as a sale award.

I also have a Dual Sanitronic 80 in my collection as well as a few others;o)

I placed a few bids on it as well

The machine and accessories look to be in near mint condition. My bid limit on it was $135.00 I already have 2 including ALL the attachments so no need for me to be a hoarder, especially at its current bid. Can't wait to see the final selling price.

I'm curious to see if it hits or goes over $300.00

I'd say it did. X2 Sold For $601.17. Too rich for me. I was stopped at $300, have to replace a crown I cracked and a new crown for another tooth I cracked. Dentist is getting a new Mercedes and I'm making the payments.

I could understand it selling for that price if it was NIB, It is a nice machine, Congrats to the winning bidder and especially the seller. Jacob, Will is right about getting the parts when you find them instead of trying to find the most complete one. Kirby still makes most of the parts so you could easily find one and replace the bag, wheels and trim, buff it and have a really nice D80.

Dual Sanitronic 80

Now I do feel like a hoarder. I have 6 Dual Sanitronic 80's. Most of them have all the tools.I am only keeping two of them one that has been meticulisly rebuilt buy the Kirby lover guy on here(can't remember his name) Ken something I think. Anyway that one is just for display and the other one I am keeping is to use.The other four I have to find good homes for, some of them have all the tools and some just have the hose and attachments. Soon as I get them ready I will let you guys know. I have to clear out a lot of double and triple machines in my collection, so I have more rooom in the house and I quit falling over all those extra vacuums.... Dan
