I went to see a vacuum repair shop in another part of town today to drop off some spares and Guess what he had waiting for me.

I already have a 119 but its missing parts and is a brown and bronze model, I have only ever seen two of these blue and white ones and now I own one

That vacuum saw a good time!

I never saw it in blue, either,  especially with that handle grip.  Go, now, and make it beautiful, again.

I can't wait to see the finished article! There is a blue and white 119 on eBay UK just now but they are asking too much for what it is. If the price came down my arm may be twisted!!

cool find!! a hoover junior model 1224. made between 1955 and 1957 to my knowledge. the company restyled the junior to appeal to those who wanted trendy colourful products for the home. furniture as well as appliances became avalible in assorted colours. i have a morphy richards toaster that was avalible in a rainbow of different shades. i have primrose yellow but it was also avalible in chrome, blue, red and green. i have seen the 1224 in numerous different colour schemes also. this is my favourite of the restyled models though. check out my 119 i have on here!! gary.

hoover 1224

I have just found one of these and two other hoovers of a similar era. they were in a farm barn loft.

1224

That was the very colour scheme of the 1224 my Mum had, her mother in law gave her £25 as a wedding present and mum bought it just before my parents moved into their first house in 1957. It was finally traded in in 1975 in part exchange against a mid range hoover freedom cylinder vac in olive green (upper body) cream (lower).

It did not last as long.....no surprise!!!

Good luck restoration.

Regards.
