I's there any way to fix an oreck motor that is arcing and smells like its burning? I dont know much about electric motors and could use some help getting my oreck working again. I'm Not sure if its the carbon brushes or the armature. IS there any tricks I could try that you all may know about? Thanks!

if you turn off the lights and watch the motor, is it sparking at the brushes or do you see it arcing around the armature. If you see electricity running around the armature, its most likely bad. If the brushes are shot, they might have damaged the armature.

Thanks guys. I will have to tear into it soon and find out what is really going on. I know the carbon brushes are short but are still there. Not sure if that would cause it or not?
