Someone is selling a nice selection of print advertisements of Eureka vacs on eBay (not me!), and I came across a vac I have never seen before!

It's a bright red cordless upright called the "Freedom" (Model 6350)- does anyone at Vacuumland own one of these oddities? Must have been short-lived as I have never seen one before.....

Brian,

I've heard of it circa 1990. That, and the Floorshow canister that which was a glorified Mighty Mite 3000/3100 series.

Hey there Ben - you are correct because the eBay seller has indicated that the ad is from 1990. Cool looking design, I must say. Must have been the first attempt at what eventually became the Boss Lite cordless upright.

Would love to also see that Eureka Mighty Mite Floorshow power team in person again! I saw it once in a store and thought the concept was wonderful - adding a mini power nozzle to a very good compact vac.

There was one in the 1990 JcPenny's catalog. Can't remember which season. I have the clippings somewhere.

Freedom

I think I have 1 1/2.One with no motor, other not running. Was a great idea but like an early unknown Regina broom and the Westinghouse Unplugged it was not practical for real life customers. The Freedom was a scaled down F-G style with direct fan and belt in middle. Will try for pics when it is seen again and as with many vacs it may need a new home.

Freedom Cordless Upright

I have a Eureka Freedom Cordless Upright. In fact, I designed it! I worked at Eureka in the 1980's - the Freedom was launched about 1985 as I remember. It used a unique sealed lead acid battery that was expensive and did not offer long life. I doubt any would be functional anymore due to this battery issue.

It was a nice product just a bit ahead of the technology to make it successful.

Ken....would love to hear more about your career at Eureka! I've always wanted to know the names of the guys behind the creation of Eureka vacs!

How long did you work there? Was it in Bloomington at the main plant? Did you work with any veterans of Eureka-Williams? So many questions.....would love to hear more and see any pics if you have any.

EurekaPrince Brian :-)
