I bought a Hoover Futura Canister vacuum for my son to take to college. It only included the bare floor nozzle. I have found a nozzle on ebay and am wondering if it will work with the Futura??

Thank you!

I've included a link to the nozzle on ebay and a photo of my son's model number.

If I read the serial number, it was made in August of 1994.

Do you have Electrified hose??

durango159's profile picture
According to schematics, and amperage, I don't believe that Futura came with a power nozzle. Therefore you may not be able to run one period on that machine. Does your hose have electrical wiring in it, you'll be able to tell if there is a recepatacle on the underside of the handle?

The power nozzle above is a Windtunnel nozzle. It comes with a 3 prong cord, the cord that you need is 2 prong. If your suction unit is compatible to running a Power nozzle, which I don't think it is, then I'd still wait for another one to hit eBay or try this one in the link. The one in this link will work.

If you can take a picture of the top of your suction unit, there would be connector inside the handle area where electrified cord would go for running power nozzle. Some Futura canister models accepted a PN and some didn't. The amperage of the machines running one on the manufacturer sticker would up around 9.8 Amps and not 7.6.

Photo of Top

I will post a photo of the top of the canister.

I really don't want to spend a lot of money. The link above would cost almost $100.00 shipped. Yikes!

Thanks for all of your help.

I will post the photo as soon as I can get my son to email one to me.

Melissa

Photo must include where hose attaches to suction unit and handle area. See if he can take a picture of the hose as well. Just trying to help!

Sorry,

From those pictures it looks like that is a suction only machine. You cannot fit a power head to that machine.

Sorry!

Scott

However, if your son is happy to use a suction driven air turbo brush, any 32mm or 35mm floor head should work. Im sure there are a few on Ebay.com or try Amazon.com Either way best to measure the open taper/entrance or diameter of the suction pipe.

No this Hoover Futura would not be capable of running an electric power head.

Hoover canisters only take Hoover attachments. You would need to find an adapter to change over and user other manufacturer tools. As much as I love these canisters I'm sure how well it would do with an air turbine head though. A Windtunnel one would be fine but a Futura might not handle that well. There's a big difference in the suction power on these canisters compared to what a household installed central vacuum system would be produce to run those turbine nozzles.

I'll forward over to this thread any good deals I find.

Hello Melissa8!

durango159's profile picture
Not really any particular order here but going through San Diego and Los Angeles Craigslist using searches I use since I'm particular to certain things, these are all machines that in your situation I would recommend. I don't know where your son lives so my search is based off the location listed in your profile. Some of these sellers may be willing to ship as well. These are all models that clean well and are reasonably durable and are priced reasonably. Many are around $40 or less, the most expensive is I believe $150 but again for those machines in good condition it's probably worth it, if that's in your budget!! There's quite a list here from Hoover uprights, an Electrolux older model canister, Hoover Futura canister very similar to the one that you bought your son, but this model with a power nozzle. Lots to review. Feel free to contact me personally through email for further questions on any particular machine if you want.

Good luck!! Rob
