I recently purchased a Royal 603 vacuum, and was wondering what year it was made.
The serial number is "17M H 32108" with the spaces and all. The "H" was stamped on later, it appears.

I just found the thread that tells how to decipher the SN, meaning this one was made in December of '71.
My next question would be: is the bag style the style used on a 603, or is it a replacement?

Thanks for any help!
Will

Will,

As far as I know the original bag was a darker shade of blue than this one.

Will,

Another thing about the SN: the "H" is the motor series revision letter.

Ben,

Thanks for the info. Judging from your posts, you seem to know your stuff!
This vac isn't all that bad, but my 1999 Royal 2025 has a lot more suction, probbly due to the age difference.
This vac is still pretty cool, considering it has lasted since the 70's, and I doubt these throw away plastic vacs purchased from big box stores would last half as long!
