I just bought a kirby 512. it has what looks like an origional 6 blade fan. motor brushes warn but i have new ones:) I can not get the front bearing off yet. i ahve a new front bearing but it looks as though the front bearing is riveted in to the front plate? is this right? is it possible then to even use the new bearing with this 512? would i need a new plate as well? I'll show pics. its a great find and i believe original bag:) just curious Thanks!!

Joe, when I used to service those, I always just installed a new bearing plate with the new bearing in it.  Otherwise, you have to drill out the rivets, then service or replace the bearing, then rivet the new or serviced bearing back into place.  For just a little more money, you can just buy the entire thing.
