it has the funniest way of cleaning edges of carpeting. essentially, the user has to disconnect the hose from the bottom of the back of the machine, attach the crevice tool to the hose end, and connect it at the bottom of the machine, to clean edges. you have to watch the video to see just how funny it truly is.

What a joke. That is quite possibly the dumbest thing Ive ever seen.
But I guess, play the gimmicks, people will buy it.

A five year warranty. I wonder what kind of leaps and bounds you would have to go through to get them to honor that?

I thought Dirt Devil had something like that years ago, but I could be wrong.

Dirt Devil had this on their swivel glides as the Edge Brush.

Guess in six months or so when the Fabreeze filter no longer smells good-it smells like dust-the vacuum goes into the dumpster and you buy another from HSN.What is with the "stumpy" crevice tools supplied with new vacuum cleaners-another USELESS tool-give me the longer one.And for the silly edge clean feature---You have to clean the main area first-then go around the edges--like in one scene the first time they show the edge clean feature-notice that the roller brush is GRINDING in the coffee grounds on the other side of the vacuum. If you must have that edge feature how bout a slot on the OTHER side of the vacuums floor nozzle?Otherwards have the slot on both sides. You do have edges to clean that would be on the other side of the nozzle-I'll just stick with my metal Royals and Kirbys that can edge clean on EITHER side of the floor nozzle-same with most canister powernozzles.-The new Rainbow one.

A question on the edge feature-is there a way to turn off the roller brush to use it?then no more "grinding" on the other side of the floor nozzle not used. That idea is sort of good and bad-but novel-probably is what will sell that vacuum to a lot of users.and why not just make the feature where you just plug the hose end into the slot-no crevice tool required.

"A question on the edge feature-is there a way to turn off the roller brush to use it?"

In the users manual, it recommends that the user shut off the brushroll when using that feature. It also says to not use the extension hose when using the edge cleaner slot. After reading that, I thought to myself, why not just attach the extension wand to the end of the hose, and the crevice tool to the end of the extension wand to clean edges? I ask that, because I highly doubt that bissell could edge clean a carpet with no brushroll activated.

so it gets down to this-the Bissel Edge clean feature is sort of crazy, but novel. But it is just that-just use the hose with the crevice tool on it to clean edges.Or attach the dust brush to dust the baseboards.I was trying to remember if the hose had a wand-without the wand looks like you have to stoop to clean the edges or baseboards-with a wand-you can stand upright-more comfortable-for theose cleaning jobs.I didn't want to watch the video again to see about a wand.those two sales "hosts" blabbing constantly about the vac drive you nuts.
