Some of you might have read my very first post.
Anyway, I have been considering getting an older Royal to replace my clearance special Bissel. Well, while searching craigslist for something interesting I came upon this. Best part is, the owner just wanted to get rid of it for free! Under the condition of course that the new owner wasn't going to sell it for scrap.

So here I am with my new (to me) Kirby Sanitronic VII.
It's in OK condition I guess. Pics show the vac after a quick cleaning with nothing more than a bit of soap, water and a scouring pad.

It came complete with a dry rotted hose and a few attachments. It has a clean brush roll and the belt looks like it may last for a while. Missing are the bag and light bulb.

I am clueless about vacuum cleaners but it seems that the motor runs smooth. I'm not sure if the unit is supposed to self propel or not but it seems that it pushes with some resistance. Maybe I just need to raise the head a bit more on my low berber?

Anyway, Now I need a bag so I can thoroughly test what it can do.

I've found some on ebay but I'm not sure what I need to get it to work (link below)

Kirby Bag

From the pic it looks like your "sani-emptor" is intact, just missing the cloth bag that would fasten over that metal flange. The bag on ebay would be complete, as there is elastic in the neck of it that fastens on the metal opening. However, there is a vinyl trim piece that would cover up the bags connection to the metal opening. Its an aesthetic piece, and wouldnt affect the machines operation. Nice score on that, I have a sanitronic 50 that I love!

Black Kirby Replacement Bag

Jason:

Considering you are going to spend I would guess at least $40-$50 dollars for a bag in good used condition, a word to the wise: DON'T DO IT!!!!!

Instead, be smart & give your local Kirby Distributor a call. They make a black replacement cloth dump bag for Kirby models 505 to Classic III, instead of making specific bags for each model, because of the age they are now. The bags that are made now will filter MUCH better than the older Kirby bags will, they are made with better fabrics & materials now. And the best part is, it won't cost much more than what you will spend on Ebay for a used bag.

Another option you have is to upgrade to a disposable bag setup. You would do this by buying a Heritage II outer bag, Heritage II Mini-Emtor, Heritage II filltube, G4 bag holder, a new bag chain to connect to the handle, & a new vinyl top for the outer bag. This would allow you to use Heritage II plain paper bags, G4 Micron Magic bags, G6 paper HEPA bags, or the Sentria HEPA Cloth bags, as well as generic Kirby Generation paper bags by various suppliers.

Good luck, & Happy Vacuuming with your new-to-you Kirby.

Rob

Sanitronic 7

This is great find. They are getting more rare than the Sanitronic 50. Try to find matching bag. Light bulb at Kirby dealer nearest you or Kirby Needs.com.

The Bag

KirbyLux77 is absolutely right, dont use a vintage bag if you intend on using that machine as a daily driver. Go with what he recommends on that. But if you ever do see an original bag come up for that model, keep it just so you have it!
