In the world of air flow testing....where can a Baird air flow meter be purchased? Anyone have one to sell?

The one I have..

Was used by our local Kirby company, but it is adaptable for other machines as well.

I can't.....

find even a link to one for sale. They must be available through some supply house...? Evan....we should buy just one and share it.....I certainly don't need it around here 24/7.

Baird meter-get freindly with your local Kirby dealer-I got one that way-and got a beat up one from a Kirby place that went out of business. They are designed so the meter can be used on other vacuums besides Kirby-some salesmen liked to use the Baird meter on the new Kirby he was going to sell and compare it to the customers present vacuum. It is an airflow guage-dosen't read out an amount-just tells you one machine "pulls" more air than the other.

I thought...

it used a scale like one to ten. I'm not sure how to get friendly with a local Kirby dealer other then to pretend I'm going to buy oneTongue out

I do always see them online in conjunction with Kirby, but I'm hoping I can get one from some other entity.

Yes,the meter has a scale that is one to ten.thats it.Somewhere I have an old Electrolux flow meter that uses three heavy steel balls. It was said an Electrolux vacuum would pull up all three-again a salesman used the guage on the customers vacuum.

Elux meter!!!!

The Electrolux guy brought one of these to my cousins house in 1970, while he was demonstrating the 1205, she told him her Compact would pick up just as many steel balls as the Electrolux would....he didnt believe her so she got her C-6 Compact and sure enough...she embarassed him!! She did buy the Electrolux and still has it!!!

Yeah....

no doubt. When the saleswoman sold us the Diamond Jubilee, she had the ball gauge.  The old G we had, sucked up the balls almost as well as the new LUX. But suction isn't everything and airflow is as important if not more. You can get great suction against fixed objects like that (or a gauge), even with a dirty bag. But you won't get good airflow.
