I just saw this tonight and thought other people would like to know. I think the last time they completely updated their website was in 2006. I really like the site so far; much better than Hoover's or Eureka's current site. Certainly not a cookie-cutter design like others. BUT, where is the Sentria II?!

I suspect that the original Sentria is still being sold by distributors in certain areas, or at least was still being sold at the time of the site's recent redesign. Give it some time...

Updated Website

This has been done within the last couple of weeks. What I don't understand is why they just didn't hold off and have the new sentria on it. The old Sentria web page was very boring and hardly ever changed. They went this long, why go to the extra trouble to add the Sentria II after the new web page design??????????????????

Sentria

Wouldn't the above carpet get cleaner if the housewife would place her toe on the on button and start motor, inflate bag and light headlight???

Hi, I like the new style Kirby website...The one part I did notice that is incorrect is in the history section it says "The Model 506 is the first model to use the Belt Lifter. 507 is the first model to be made of Die Cast aluminum." As we all know there was NO 506 or 507.

I think someone should tell them;o)

See link for new Sentria II. Personally, I prefer the design of the former Sentria, but that's just me.

i googled kirby and came across the wikipedia site for it. They already have the sentria II listed in the time line of the machines also.

Just bought the Sentria 2 DVD

One poster stated that they needed to turn the sentria on if she was using it on the website. After seeing the DVD for the Sentria 2, that bag is inflated and I believe the light is on. On the DVD, the fill tube makes the bag crease in the middle. Don't know if the fill tube is doing this or if the bag is a little longer causing the sag. My original Sentria did not do this. Hard to say what changed.

Also on the dvd, the cord is gray, but the plug end looks like the brown color. Could they have had an excess supply of cord and decided to use it up first and then change the cord to brown? Strange to put a gray cord with brown trim......

And boy did they make this dvd short. About 28 minutes. Totally changed the way you adjust the height. They say to lower all the way first and raise one notch for medium pile carpet and raise another notch for pet hair...low pile would be all the way down and hard surface one notch up from bottom.

Basically just went through the steps with no explanations as to why you need to do it this way. The F Style bag latches at the top differently as well. If you have old stock you can still use them, as it will attach this way also. The new way you bend a t shaped tab until it goes into the curves on the back of the two posts that connect the top of the bag.

Bud, I haven't noticed on the DVD, but I can tell you that the Sentria II cords on all the machines I've seen are completely gray as on the original Sentria.

The Sentria II DVD is pretty bad. They definitely raised the production values and made it slick and modern, but the editing is horrible and it moves at a spastic pace. Anyone watching trying to learn how to use the machine will probably find themselves having to rewatch sections because it moves so fast.

The previous way of adjusting the carpet height (from the top down) was ideal, and I have no idea why they changed that. Lowering the nozzle all the way and then going up from there is going to result in a lot more burned out belts due to the nozzle being a lot lower than it really needs to be.

Ryan,

Thanks for the reply. I also wonder if it is the new mini emptor that is causing the fill tube to sag? It looks to be maybe a little higher than the older ones and at a different angle....I wonder if the bend will reduce airflow, which they were trying to increase with the new emptor. Perhaps they need to redue the outer bag to some degree to correct this....however if it doesn't reduce the airflow, I guess there really is no problem......

Thanks,

Overall, the Sentria II is functionally identical to the post-2009 Sentrias (which use the F-style bags and have the new style emptor). I've never noticed a significant difference in performance between the early and later models, but honestly, I've never attached an airflow meter to them to objectively judge either. I do find that the new emptor is a bit easier to remove than the old one was.
