Got a nice Moulinex Major "dirty air" upright cleaner, nice condition, tools, works fine, just needs a new belt and a bit of a clean, has the cloth bag which is good cuz bag wise i'm very, very cheap :P

How much for all of that? £1.50 from a surprisingly jovial man.

Pics coming as and when.

#2 showing the tools and cloth bag (a godsend :P I'm cheap with bags, just bunged it in the washing machine..looked like a grey sandbag when I got it)

Ian, you always get the coolest vacs! What vintage do you estimate this to be? Hard to pass up at that price!

Well the date inside says 16/07/80, I would presume it's the date of manufacture. I've also seen old magazines which state the dates as anything from 1981 to 1983, either way it's early 80s..although i'm sure I heard the basic design is from the late 70s, 1978-1979. I just need to sort out the brushroll (it's a bit stuck atm, but i've got the tools so it's not completely useless at the moment.)

And of course, thanks for your compliment Guy, that actually means a lot :] I like to think I drag home the more "interesting" Vacuum Cleaners in the club :)

Addition to the above: My "secret" if there is such a thing, is to not discriminate..if it's of the required vintage (60s to 80s in my case) and it looks interesting, and if it's in good condition..and IF the price is right, as in this case..I go for it...i've never been disapointed so far, if you want "weird" you should have seen this Goblin 1000 from the early 80s I came home with once..such a strange design, looked like a shuttle from startrek (!)

Nice Moulinex, Ian. What a price, too!

There was nothing else decent there anyway, two Kirbys..a Tradition with no bits and a Heritage with all the boxes/stuff..the hose was taped up.

I'd have come away with a Kirby too but I couldn't very well fit both in the VW Lupo :P

The dustbox is pure Hoover Starlight/Junior Deluxe!

Well as i've said (and openly suspect..)

Moulinex copied the Junior Deluxe to make the Major..and then later Hoover copied the Major to make the Turbopower mk1 :P

Which is really ironic because the TP1 replaced the Junior Deluxe.
