A neighbor of mine was moving about two weeks ago and this was sitting out by the garbage. There was no hose or power nozzle. I grabbed it and took it home and plugged it in. It ran smooth and powerful as a Tristar/Compact should! The original cord was nicked in several places, so I did replace it.

I was a little surprised to see this, because I don't think Tristars were ever sold in our area. Because it ran perfectly, all I did was clean it up and install new filters. The Filter Fresh basket was already there with the paper filter only. This Tristar has six stages to it's filtration system: The paper bag, the cloth bag, the pre-filter for the motor, then in the Filter Fresh basket, the foam filter, the paper filter, and the charcoal filter.

50th Anniversary Model

Does anyone know when the 50th Anniversary model was made? Also, I already own one Tristar, so I had the hose. I already had this Eureka PN, which is an extremely good power nozzle. Tristars are so powerful and VERY easy to work on!

What a great find.

I recently got a MIracle Mate system and have been really liking it. Does your Sweep & Groom work well with your Tri Star? I've been in the process of getting a Eureka power nozzle with a VGIII together to use with my Miracle Mate. The Lindhaus power nozzle that came with it is a quality unit, but I think it's hard to beat a VGIII or a Quadraflex.

The Sweep n Groom is a great power nozzle!  It does a great job of agitating and grooming the carpet.  The brush stiffeners also make it easier to push across the carpet.  The nozzle won't fit a Tristar wand, but I was lucky enough to have a Eureka wand with two holes so that it would fit a Tristar hose.  The Hoover Quadraflex power nozzle is also excellent.

Complete Ensemble

I was finally able to complete this CXL ensemble with a genuine Tristar power nozzle.  The PN was in like new condition too.

However, I did install a Eurkea VGII brush roll that I harvested from a Eureka power nozzle.  The VGII turns this vacuum into a CLEANING BEAST.
