These are my euro pro fantoms, and my dyson. I also have a dyson dc14 that I got after this picture was shot. Details on each later. I'm selling the Fantom Twister on craigslist.

sorry-these vacuums are less than 20 years old.

Why are you selling the Twister on Craigslist? Not a quality vacuum to you, or waste of space?

It's not that it's a bad vacuum, it's just that i want to make room for vacuums that i'd rather have than this one.

Oh. Besides, the Twisters are prone to electrical problems.

There's the Fantom Falcon, and the Fantom hand vac that is a Dirt Devil rip-off.

FantomFan, what do you think of the Fantom Thunderbolt that you have there? Whats your opinion on it? I have a Fantom Falcon....it's a nice vacuum, but the whole thing is VERY cheaply made, & although it cleans well, the filter clogs easily. I think the Lightning was much better made & a better cleaner.

Rob

I'm also curious about the Thunderbolt. The power nozzle looks neat, is it powerful? The hose is elcheapo.

I got the tunderbolt new from kmart when they came out. Didnt have the thing six months before the power nozzle some how went out. Not sure what the problem was everything seemed fine? Anywho I took it back to kmart to get a replacement thunderbold because I really like the machine but when I got there they had stopped selling them! I ended up getting a Eureka whirlwind bagless.......='(

The Thunderbolt is an inferior, Chinese version of the Lightning. I saw Euro-Pro Fantoms at Kmart and BJs when I was little.

Here is the history on the thunderbolt:
I wanted to own one euro pro made fantom, as i've never tried one. I saw this on ebay, thought it looked cool, so I bought it, in may,2012. I payed $47 dallars for it, and I know I payed too much, but I've never seen one exactly like this one. I found on the back that this was made in 2002, so it came out right after fantom technologies went under. It came, with no attachments, as expected, but I found extra attachments that came with a fantom kit, that only fit the lightning, but they fit on the thunderbolt, so it now has attachments. It came horribly clogged up the powerhead neck, and the big design flaw on the machine is you cannot disconect the powerhead from the wand, an awful failure. After two days of dispair, I fixed the clog, and it's working fine now. Its amazing how much it looks like a fantom lightning. The button on the canister releases the top, revealing the dust cup, motor, and filters, like the lightning did. I'll have to agree that its a poor excuse for a lightning replacement though. Here are the pros and cons:
Pros:
-filters are washable
-good suction
-lightweight for a canister
-easy access to attachments
-adjustable wand
cons:
-so so carpet performance
-many clips and wires that have to be attached to the vacuum to operate
-cheap plastic
-powerhead does not disconect
-hair gets stuck on brushroll very easily, like my dyson.
-too many filters, 4, to be exact
I used it 3 days ago. The next day, you wouldn't beleive what the lightning pulled up!!! I knew the thunderbolt left dirt behind, because my carpet is not usually that dirty, after being vacuumed a day ago. Will post better pictures soon.

I'm guessing the Lightning is a better machine due to being made in Canada.

Ever heard of the Fantom Falcon? It's also a Euro-Pro Fantom canister, but that was made in 2005 or 2006.

Yes, I have heard of that model, but I think that one was different from the thunderbolt. Consumer Reports gave it a decent rating in 2006, but they said it had "poor tool airflow". Have you seen the lightnings one ebay, If you ask me, I say they're pretty outrageous. Seriously, $650 dallars?

Post# 201046 , Reply# 15   9/17/2012 at 18:58 (4,210 days old) by director12 ()

I haven't checked eBay. If the Falcon seemed decent, why would the tool airflow be subpar?

It seemed decent to me, because it scored fairly well in the rest of the categories, except in handling. I beleive it almost received a "very Good" I have the magazine here, it says, carpet, very good, bare floors, excellent, tool airflow, poor, noise, good, emissions, very good, handling, poor, pet hair, very good. Again, I'm not saying you're machine is bad, I just thought you would be interested in seeing what CU thought about the falcon. The model tested was the model fc251.

Oh, okay. Would you ever get the Falcon if you found one? I know it would be another unique vacuum to own.

Ever heard of the Fantom stick vac? Fantomvacuumfan owned one, but donated it citing bad filtration. I know K-Mart sold them, and I saw them there when I was young.

Ive seen the stick vacs for sale when I was young. If I saw a falcon on craigslist, I probably wouldn't get it. If it was at a garage sale or a flea market, I would probably get it, if it was a good price. Usually, if I see a vacuum I don't want on craigslsit, I won't bother, but if it was a good price at a garage sale, I would get it because I would already be at the garage sale anyway. The falcon seems like a nice looking vacuum though.

I agree, Craigslist is not to be trusted sometimes.

There is a Fantom handvac that is a Dirt Devil rip-off. Had you got a good deal on getting a DM430, you would be comparing it to the Dirt Devil handvac you own to see which is better. It also mocks the Eureka Quick Up handvac, with a Bissell Powerpartner handvac from the 90's.

rob- i think the thunderbolts hose is pretty cheap, and I don't like having 4 filters on it either.

The Lightning's hose is built better.
