I seem to have always had an obession with older appliances and more so vacuums and have always been intrigued by Electrolux. Where I live we have a Goodwill Outlet store and all Vacuums are 5.00, you have to hunt for em but with a lil luck and love I have started to build my collection for hardly any money. I am excited to share my passion with other people like me and am excited I have found this site!

Beautiful Luxes!

s31463221's profile picture
I have an old 1205 that actually looks worse than yours did in the first pic. What did you do to shine it up so well and really make it pop? I see the windex and wd40 in the background of the photos, but is that all you used on it? Just curious! Really nice collection though, I have a big soft spot for older Electrolux Vacuum Cleaners!

Thanks Steve and Mike

The only things I use are windex, Mr. Clean magic eraser on the rubber and on the metal I use Mothers Alluminum Polish that you can get at Wal-Mart or any autoparts store and of course a little elbow grease!

Thanks Mike, I have too. Always thought it was odd to want a Vacuum collection but said to hell with it. I have several more in my storage closet I just use for parts and also have a Electrolux Discovery II that is my everyday whip out and Vacuum. I have not paid more than $10 for any of my Vacs!

Tristan, those are some BEAUTIFUL Electroluxes, you should be proud of yourself.

Or maybe not, be it one of the Deadly Sins and all...

Talking of Sins, I see you own NO Hoovers! How could you!?

I do hope you are on the look out for some, it is just abhorrent NOT to have one in your collection.

Thanks

Thanks Jamie and Tyler, I appreciate the love I'm headed out today on a search for more goodies.

Jamie- no it seems like I haven't had much luck finding hoovers. But rest your mind I'm sure I will find one for my collection. Just always had a passion for the old Lux's. Maybe you guys can help me I payed through PayPal for a Membership on 07/15 and haven't heard a word back from anyone and still says I am not a member. I have tried emailing twice. I'm kinda bummed.

Did you do everything stated in the instructions for joining the VCCC ?

I am not a member myself because you have to be over 18, but when I am, I shall be joining.

Good luck with finding Hoovers! Though, a word of warning. NO BAGLESS ONES! Or I may have to kill you :)

Excellent restore on all of them. I'm all HOOVER, but, I appreciate your skills there. I have a cousin named Tristan, not vey common, like John, lolol.
Do try to become a full member.
I think you need a nice gold Anniversary floor polisher, and I'm selling one. It's a "LUX", currently a "Cellar Dweller"... came out of a convent! Long story......
John.

John is the most common first name here in the UK!

An Electrolux in a convent ? That is a Sin to have such a brand in such a place John, how unholy of you and you almost being a Priest and all, you should be ashamed!

Tristan, Welcome Aboard

You will have such a great time getting to know other collectors as well as their appreciation for what you have, have found and helping to look for !
I bill my self as a Lux/Kirby must have guy. But I will say, so glad to see you have a couple of Eurekas.
I have grown to love Lux uprights with electric hoses for the sidekick to do carpet steps and cars. I know you probably think of lux as a power nozzle cannister. Get an upright in your collection, especially if you have no desire for
the other traditional uprights of Hoovers and Kirbys.
I dare say you will soon be playing with and fixing up any and every brand and model that comes your way ! LOL !

Enjoy, so glad your here, with the rest of we collectors. After all we could be collecting cars, radios, camera's, telephones, small appliances, in addition to Vacuums ! Oh Don't forget Automatic Washers and Matching Dryers, Now those are a chore. you just can't pick them up at the Good will and throw them in the car, right?
Norm

John and Norm

John, Thanks again for the feedback, I am trying to push hard for membership! Love to know more about your lux up for grabs!

Norm, Thank you for the wisdom I have an Electrolux Discovery II, that I dont have pictured but will show u and have the accesory kit, again 6.99 at the goodwill lol no I am not a paid spokesperson for goodwill. I have owned a 63' Chevrolet Biscayne and a 76' Coupe DeVille, I have a passion for anything vintage but it seems like Lux's are a lil more practital (not to mention cheaper.) My first washer and dryer was a Maytag not sure of the model number but they where gold and from the 70's and loved them dearly. I am not sure why at the age of 27 I have such a passion for things from those era's but I do. I also have a Tristar I just aquired and love it as well.

Thanks

Thanks those are a few of my fav's too, I'm not sure the year on the brown upright. I actually had it listed on eBay then decided to keep it! I also have another eureka not listed that is a upright it's red with the cord-a-way attachment and has two speed settings.

Very nice collection Tristan, all your vacs look to be in great shape. I cant believe you got them all at GoodWill and at such great low prices, around here all they have are Dirt Devils for like $30 a piece. You sure have done a great job cleaning up your vacuums.

Hi Tristan,

Wow, I'm overwhelmed with you restore them back to what they should be so well!! I love using Windex on mine. Anything not connected to a wire and I can separate from the machine, I put to soak in my laundry tub usually with some multi purpose disinfecting cleaner. Have not tried Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, I should. I've used Soft Scrub, scrub brush and aggressive sponges and although it takes out the scuff marks, I find a couple of spots where I rubbed too hard.

Definitely find yourself a Hoover. If you have luck at your Good Will with Electrolux then surely there must be some Hoovers coming in-- hopefully good ones, not a bagless or el cheapo model.

I have a couple of Hoovers but no vintage. Really excited and looking forward to landing myself a Celebrity or Guardsman power head canister and Decade 800 upright.

Welcome aboard!! I'm not a full paying member yet, but John, the "King of Hoover" could probably help you out.

Thanks Sam and Rob!
I have found a celebrity at goodwill once. But jus keeping my eye out for the right one. Thanks for your comments means a lot to have some approval from people like I have said before they have always been my dirty little secret and it's very refreshing to have good feedback. I also have a tristar I jus got from the 80's and I have a eureka upright with the cord away and two speed settings. But I am mainly a lux guy they never seem to let me down!

Tristan! Welcome to the nicest gang of cleaner-philes in the world!

Love your "Steve and Eydie" team of matching brown Eurekas! I love it when collectors get a matching duo of Eurekas.....

Your Electrolux line-up is indeed beautiful - now all you need is some Canadian Electroluxes made in my hometown of Montreal....anyone want to donate a nice red 88 Lux-0-Matic as a welcome gift to our new friend from Nashville? Wish I could, but alas, I only have room for my Electrolux UltraSilencer Green and my Hoover Tempo....*sigh*

Eurekaprince Brian :-)

You have a great looking Silverado too! I wish my Silverado looked that good, it's actually rather shabby looking, but it's my daily driver and runs like a champ! I recently acquired another Silverado in really good shape, but I've not had a chance to bring it home yet, or even really check it out good! I love these old machines though!

Check them out, I found them under electrolux I love those models!

Nice collection you have there, and excellent work you have done restoring them! I love Luxes too, and have 6 of them in my collection, including 2 XII's, 2 XXX's, an AE, and a G.
I'm sure you will find other machines you want, including a Hoover or two (or three or four). Vacuums have been known to multiply like rabbits once you start collecting.
The model 28 Hoover is one that all collectors should have. Here's mine.
