Clay,
I don't have any info for you, I just wanted to tell you that I love that vacuum of your. I have a special spot for the cigar-shaped vacuums on metal runners. It looks great.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm thinking Buck Rogers should take it for a test flight.

Hi there,

That Vacuum Cleaner was made by Apex.

Where do you live in Florida?

Just south of Gainesville (in the middle of nowhere). But I'm in Indianapolis right now, been shopping at the Goodwill.

By the way, thanks for the info David! Didn't mean to be rude, just tired after a long day of shopping and Ebay-ing. Got to go to bed now. Clay

Hey Clay:

President was the store brand for the State Vacuum Store Chain in the US and Canada from the late 40's to the early 60's In the US the machines were made for them by Apex while in Canada they were made by Bylock in England. While both were similar the difference was in the accessories. The US ones were the standard 1 1/4 while the Canadian ones were 1 1/8 connections. I'm including a pic of my Canadian Presidents which is similar to the one you have.

Nice! I think mine will clean up nicely but the cord is trashed. Might sell it on ebay as fixer-upper

Hi it is Steve - Vacuum guy from London, wanted to share that I was able to pick up a vintage President Vacuum yesterday in Hamilton Ontario. Has all original pieces including hose and manual. See attached pictures. I was so pleased to find this reference out on Vacuum Land to confirm my find.

Thanks

Steve
