Hey Clay:
President was the store brand for the State Vacuum Store Chain in the US and Canada from the late 40's to the early 60's In the US the machines were made for them by Apex while in Canada they were made by Bylock in England. While both were similar the difference was in the accessories. The US ones were the standard 1 1/4 while the Canadian ones were 1 1/8 connections. I'm including a pic of my Canadian Presidents which is similar to the one you have. |

Just like it but its red and was sold by Western Auto, its a Wizard, also have the Chrome Apex version, model 540, from 1947 or 48. |
