Can anyone help me with the value of a Decorvac? I found a model 66 at my grandfathers house and have searched the Internet but can't find anything ... Thanks

We like pictures on this forum!! Very hard to price anything and judge any sort of interest without a picture.

What is your overall vacuum knowledge, or are you strictly contacting this forum only for this item? Every member can see that this is your first post to the site.

There's no absolute value. It's all about condition and does it function? Is it clean? Does it smell? Any strange noises? New belt, New bag, how are the agitator brushes wearing? How many scuffs, scratches, cracks, etc in hood, on base plate, inside agitator housing and of course bag compartment. Any stickers, logos, attachments, covers, buttons missing, or broken?

From there its all up to what ever someone is willing to buy it for. Price high, adjust from there. See if someone submits an offer.

Search eBay, see if anything similar appears, compare the condition of the auctioned model, and see what their asking, if no reserve price.

Decorvac...

If Im not mistaken, that machine is a footstool look a like, you take off the top and the hose and tools store underneath, Rugsucker has one I think..Oh Jimmy!!! chime in here, you are the expert on the odd and unusual vacs.

Durango159, you are right, this is my first post. What does that matter? I have absolutly no vacuum knowledge, that is why I was asking a question. I did search ebay and the internet and have not found any Decorvac. This is a public forum so I assumed I could ask a question.

I'm not necessary looking for someone to buy this .. I'm trying to figure out what i should do with this thing.

Sorry that the picture is sideways

Info on you vac.

Wow, what a noval idea. A vacuum cleaner in a hassock.

I may know someone that can help you find out some manufacturing info on you vacuum.

His name is Kent, and he been in the vacuum business for 40+ years in Utah. His e-mail address is Kirbyneeds@yahoo.com Kent deals mostly in Kirby's. However, has a great deal of knowledge and the resourses to obtain information on ALL makes and models of vacuum cleaners. I'm wondering if your machine was even manufactured in the U.S. I've NEVER herd the name or a vacuum called Durango.

In any case. Great machine.

No need for apologies and you were quite right to ask the question, so dont be feeling bad about it. Seems like it is quite an unusual vacuum - there have been others, if not that brand, posted on here before.

As for what you want to do with it it depends on the circumstances. If you are living in a small home (really an apartment) it may have some functional use for you assuming you can lay your hands on wands and carpet/floor tools. And assuming you dont have a preference for upright over cannister. However if you have a home thats much larger it will probably be of limited use to you.

Still, a cool vacuum - thank you for posting about it.

Al

I Think..

The bags are hard to find, but if I remember correctly its a well made unusual machine.

Could you take some more pics? Perhaps of the bag chamber, the cord, the bottom...Same idea as the National vacuum that I picked up recently.

'odd & unusual' expert here

the4arms,If you have a vac question come to a vac forum.Welcome!Your Decorvac looks low milage and nice.It would be from late 60s.I have seen a brochure that showed it to be available in at least 3 colors-black,green(mine)and gold?.It was a nice idea for storage and must have evolved from hassocks with swing up lid that could store vacs, toys, blankets, etc that were sometimes sold by vac dealers. These were sold by vac supply house to vac stores and sometimes independent door to door salesmen. It was clumsy and awkward to use but did make a nice footstool.More pics?Value??--It is rare and unusual but this is up to condition, buyer interest and more factors.

One of these on eBay.

I was surfing vintage vacs on eBay today. There is a Decorvac up for auction.

Unless it yours?

Nope, not mine ... the person selling it is from Florida, I'm in Pennsylvania. But I will definitely watch it because I don't know what to sell mine for ..

Its an interesting design

I'm glad you took a look at the one on eBay.

I don't know how great the suction is on one of these machines. But I've gotta admit its a brilliant design idea for anyone who has limited storage space in an apartiment, condo or RV.

I've never seen one of these hassock style vacuums before, until seeing yours and now the one up at auction on eBay.

Decorvac

I found one of these ottoman vaccum cleaners in my mom and dads house while cleaning the house to put on the market. I don't remember ever seeing this vacuum before. Is there a market for these?
