That is an AMAZING find! Sounds like Grandma made the mistake of letting a Kirby salesman into her house, & the only way to get rid of him was to buy the vacuum....so up in the attic goes one unwanted vacuum!
Besides the cord, I also noticed the hose looks to be a replacement too, unless it's just my eyes....but that does appear a darker red than what was originally supplied in those years. Rob |

The 518 had the speckled bag as shown above, but the cord as mentioned is incorrect. Originally a solid grey cord, with red plugs. |

Nice fully rebuilt 1965 Sanatronic D50 w/attch & shampooer unit listed on eBay by a seller who is an owner of a vacuum shop. eBay item # 180924004399 Worth taking a look at if your looking for a really nice referbed Kirby. |

I think it's stunning! Adjusted for inflation, that is what it would have cost NEW in 1965. It's not that unreasonable.
@Kirbyloverdan, you made it clear to all earlier this summer you had no issue with finances. Why gripe about prices now? :) Excellent restoration, though!! If I were a Kirby collector, I'd be all over it! |
